Senate Passes Bill to Pay Federal Employees After Shutdown

Trump cancels Davos trip over partial govt. shutdown

While scientists warn that the climate crisis will continue to cause increasingly damaging weather events and disasters in US communities, President Donald Trump made clear Friday his focus on a separate, invented "crisis" as he ordered officials to consider redirecting billions of dollars in disaster relief funds to pay for a wall at the southern USA border.

Lawmakers tried to reassure federal employees that Congress was aware of the financial hardship they are enduring.

Yesterday during a visit to the southern border in Texas, President Trump put DACA on the table as a negotiating point with Democrats.

The House also passed a bill by a bipartisan vote of 411-7 that would provide back pay to federal workers once the shutdown ends.

Trump Urges Wall Funding to Fix Border 'Crisis'
Still, Sanders said the White House hoped the administration and USA lawmakers could find a solution to the wall funding. McConnell blasted Schumer for holding up Senate votes on unrelated foreign policy measures during the budget impasse.

Of course, this met two immediate obstacles: Trump, who said "I want a guaranteed wall", and Nancy Pelosi, who said, "there will be no wall". The bill now heads to President Donald Trump, who is expected to sign it. Supporters have tried to convince him that an emergency declaration is the best option to end the shutdown and would give him political cover to reopen the government without appearing to be caving on his pledge.

The partial government shutdown is in its third week with no sign of a truce looming as the Trump administration and the Democratic-led House battle over border security funding. That's according to a congressional aide familiar with the matter who was not authorized to speak publicly.

Defense Department officials had already been combing data on more than $10 billion in military construction projects to determine how much of it would be available for emergency spending this year. "I often said during rallies, with little variation, that 'Mexico will pay for the Wall, '" he tweeted.

It was not clear what a potential compromise between the White House and Congress might entail.

The son of former FIFA World Player of the Year George Weah , Tim has only made six senior appearances for PSG, scoring two goals. They wanted him to go out on loan and saw Celtic as a great possibility. "Hopefully, I can do the same here at Celtic".

"What we're not looking to do right now is national emergency", he continued.

He originally was willing to offer $1.6 billion for border security, but that changed after an earlier contentious meeting with the president before the shutdown on December 11.

"It would be beyond appalling for the president to take money from places like Puerto Rico that have suffered enormous catastrophes, costing thousands of American citizens lives, in order to pay for Donald Trump's foolish, offensive and hateful wall", Velázquez said.

Rep. Nydia Rep. Nydia Velázquez, D-N.Y., told NBC the Democrats would fight "with every ounce of energy we have" to prevent the president from using Army Corps funds to build his wall.
