Thursday Tracks: New Year, New Me Mixtape

giphy
While I cannot stand those who declare they’ll be better just because the calendar has started anew, here I am making a mixtape for those who feel a new year means a new beginning. Really though, you can make changes to your life at any time throughout the year – just saying. Anyways, I wanted to start making mixtapes on a weekly basis because hell – I always ask for them, but never take the time to make my own. So we’re starting here with some songs that motivate, inspire and will hopefully boost the spirits of those looking to better themselves in 2017.

Johnny Nash “I Can See Clearly Now”

The storms of negativity have passed and you are ready to start seeing things in a new, positive light from now on. So leave that pessimism at the door.

Brooke White “Let It Be”

Yes, The Beatles did it originally, but I like this version a hell of a lot better. Anyways, sometimes you just have to let it be and move on.

Taylor Swift “Change”

When you’ve been shit on again and again, this one will be there to hold you up and shows that change is indeed on the way.

Linkin Park “Breaking the Habit”

Excuse me for a second while middle school me gets down…okay, this one’s pretty literal, but the biggest resolution year after year after dieting is breaking a habit. So here ya’ll go!

Paramore “Moving On”

Brush off the haters because like this one says, they’re not worth the fight.

Britney Spears “Stronger”

This Lip Sync Battle champ delivers here.

Carrie Underwood “One Way Ticket”

Warning: This song has the potential to become a guilty pleasure. Anyways to steal a line because it sums it up nicely, “Whenever life don’t go your way, Well, maybe it’s time to take a nice long break.”

Tori Amos “Pretty Good Year”

Find the beauty in this somber tune, trust.

Demi Lovato “Warrior”

If there’s one person who knows about overcoming, it’s this woman right here.

Jason Castro “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”

Not the OG person to sing it, but my personal favorite version done by my favorite Idol contestant. Plus, there’s always good after a storm, right?
