#FBF: Kutcher’s Teenage Dream

Years ago Ashton Kutcher won a Teen Choice Award for something and really, it’s not like it’s an Oscar so he had fun with it and shared this piece of advice with the crowd, “Don’t ever charge anything on a credit card if you don’t already have money in the bank for it.” He then went on to thank the crowd in the form of a song.

He led a giant group sing-a-long to Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream.” Which is why it was able to make it into this month’s memorable music memories. Without that, it’d just be a wonderful speech to post on my Tumblr – which I did when it happened back in 2011.

In all honesty though I confused two of his speeches into one. This one being a favorite because of the Perry, and one he made a couple years later when he won what he dubbed “the old guy award.” One of those most influential deals. Because I loved those words so much, I also wanted to note them as well – even though they lacked a musical number. He went on about Ashton not being his first name but actually his middle, and three things he’d learned over the years; opportunity looks a lot like hard work, the sexiest thing in the entire world, is being really smart, thoughtful and generous, and building a life instead of just living one.

Who would’ve guessed that guy who thanked his fans with a musical number just two years prior would drop knowledge bombs like that?
