Uber to weed out low-rated riders for bad behaviour

Uber is draped on the front of the New York Stock Exchange. The company says that starting Wednesday May 29 riders with a rating from drivers that’s significantly below average could lose their ability

Previously, only drivers with low ratings were at risk of being dropped by the app, which has resulted in customers being able to influence the ones who are able to remain working.

Parker added there will be an education campaign so riders and drivers can better understand the guidelines and avoid pitfalls.

Uber drivers are held to similar standards, if they have low ratings they can't drive for the ride share app. Riders will be warned when their behavior is earning them dangerously low ratings, and will "have several opportunities to improve their rating prior to losing access to the Uber apps", according to Parker's statement. But now, Uber is extending those same principles to riders, with the company confirming it'll start deactivating users who don't improve their behavior.

The Memorial Tournament: Previewing The Action
Golf still is measured by score, and Moore had the lowest one among the early starters on a rain-softened Muirfield Village. Tiger Woods saved par when he needed to, then cashed in when the opportunities presented themselves late in the round.

It varies from city to city, but just like drivers, if riders fall below an average minimum rating, they'll be booted from the platform.

To make sure everyone actually pays attention to Uber's expectations of getting into a auto or ordering food through its platform, everyone who uses Uber will see a large in-app message appear about the updated community guidelines.

Starting with the US and Canada, riders will see a summary of the guidelines and be asked to confirm that they understand them.

The toolkit also includes Intel Dynamic Tuning Technology, Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and Intel Graphics Command Center. The first laptops to support Athena are Acer Swift 5, Dell XPS 13, HP Envy 13 and Lenovo Yoga S940.

But starting soon, the ratings drivers give to their passengers will now matter as well, according to Kate Parker, the head of safety brand and initiatives at Uber.

Since its launch in 2009, Uber has become the ride-sharing service.

Some riders say the change is a good way to protect drivers, calling the new policy a two-way street. The opposite, she said, would qualify riders for the ban.

Seasonal temperatures, more storms for Memorial Day
He says up to 40 homes were damaged Monday night, with some houses moved off their foundations by the storms. Six were reported in Iowa, five in Nebraska, four in IL and three in Minnesota, with one in Idaho.

Uber said it expects this change to impact only a very small number of riders, though. To educate the public, the company plans on displaying a full-screen summary of the guidelines to Uber riders, starting with those based in the U.S. and Canada. "For too long there has been one-sided accountability and this is a positive step toward correcting that".
