Hundreds of protesters were still locked in a tense stand-off with police in central Jakarta on Wednesday after a night of violence.

Flanked by the military chief and other top leaders, a grim-looking Widodo said, "I will work together with anyone to advance this country, but I will not tolerate anyone who disrupts the security, democratic processes and unity of our beloved nation".

The protests erupted after election results showed Mr Widodo had beaten his long-time rival Prabowo Subianto.

Six people have died and at least 200 have been injured in civil unrest in the Indonesian capital Jakarta, governor Anies Baswedan said after the election commission confirmed President Joko Widodo had won last month's vote.

Subianto, an elite figure from a wealthy family connected to former dictator Suharto, also lost to Widodo in 2014.

Police have said the rioting was planned rather than a spontaneous outburst.

Judge rules against Trump in records dispute with Congress
District Judge Amit Mehta in Washington also denied a request by Trump to stay his decision pending an appeal. McGahn featured prominently in Mueller's final report, released last month.

"The vast majority of both clearly accepted the election results".

"To avoid provocations, the spread of fake news through the community, we will limit access to certain features on social media", said Wiranto, who goes by one name. He said messaging systems will still work for text and audio but photos and videos will be blocked or slowed.

The national police chief has said the public should not assume police were responsible. But now officials say they've tabulated the vote from more than 800,000 polling places in the large and predominantly Muslim country.

Since 23:00 WIB (Western Indonesia Time), Monday, May 21, 2019, the mob who had clashed with the police while demonstrating in front of the Bawaslu office, Jalan MH Thamrin, Jakarta, retreated to Jalan Wahid Hasyim.

But the violence in Jakarta was a planned act by paid "provocateurs", authorities claimed, citing envelopes with money found on some of almost 70 demonstrators who had been arrested. The minimum wage in Jakarta is about $9 a day.

More than 30,000 troops have been deployed across the capital amid reports of protests after the publication of the official election results.

Magic Johnson: Lakers GM Pelinka was backstabber
He also revealed that several National Basketball Association agents called him and told him to watch out for Pelinka. Vogel's introduction as the Lakers' latest coach was nearly overshadowed by comments made earlier by Magic Johnson .

The Election Commission's headquarter in central Jakarta is barricaded with razor wire and heavily guarded.

Supporters of former special forces general Prabowo Subianto clashed with security forces in Jakarta on Wednesday, burning vehicles and throwing rocks at police, who responded with tear gas and rubber bullets.

A former special forces commander was earlier detained for trying to smuggle weapons into protests, according to the government. He is believed to be discussing a plan to bring his election dispute to the Constitutional Court.

"We will not accept KPU vote counting results as long as it is based on fraud", he said, referring to his camp's media briefing a week ago where he made allegations of vote-rigging and claimed his camp had gathered evidence to support his claims.

Prabowo called for peaceful protests and restraint.

From late 2016, they organised a series of protests against then-Jakarta governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, the first ethnic-Chinese Christian to hold the job, who was subsequently jailed for insulting the Koran.
