Trump Threatens 'Official End of Iran' After Baghdad Rocket Incident

Trump says war with US will ‘officially end’ Iran

May 9: The European Union urges Iran to respect the nuclear deal and says it plans to continue trading with the country despite USA sanctions.

Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Monday the "genocidal taunts" of US President Donald Trump will not "end Iran", amid a spike in tensions between the two countries.

Graham wrote on Twitter, "The fault lies with the Iranians, not the United States or any other nation".

Trump has tightened economic sanctions against Iran, and his administration says it has built up the USA military presence in the region.

The US and its allies are concerned any conflict with Tehran will be played out through its proxy forces in Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Lebanon.

"The enemies of Islamic Iran are incapable in operation fields and have resorted to media warfare due to their fear of Iran's military power", Iranian Gen. Ali Hajilou said at a military ceremony in Mianeh.

Judge rules against Trump in records dispute with Congress
District Judge Amit Mehta in Washington also denied a request by Trump to stay his decision pending an appeal. McGahn featured prominently in Mueller's final report, released last month.

However, Britain's foreign minister reiterated the Trump administration is only attempting to hold Iran responsible for its recent aggression and is not looking for a full-scale war. "Iran is saying this forum is something Guterres could convene very easily".

Trump used similar language in a tweet to Rouhani a year ago.

In May 2018, Trump withdrew the United States from a multinational deal with Iran negotiated by the Obama administration that reduced economic sanctions on Tehran in exchange for scaling back its nuclear program.

Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah addressed regional and worldwide issues with Zarif, Iranian state news agency IRNA said, without elaborating.

Trump's tweet immediately followed news that a rocket had landed in Baghdad's Green Zone, not too far from the US embassy.

Trump had seemed to soften his tone after the US recently sent warships and bombers to the region to counter an alleged, unexplained threat from Iran.

Meanwhile, Oman's minister of state for foreign affairs made a previously unannounced visit Monday to Tehran, seeing Zarif, the state-run IRNA news agency reported.

It has been reported that Israel's intelligence agency, Mossad, tipped the United States about the Iranian threat that targeted U.S. interests in the Gulf area, that prompted the USA to send the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier to the region.

Iran has always said it does not seek nuclear weapons.

"President Trump's saber-rattling about Iran has reached a unsafe new low with his threat to "end" Iran-a country of 83 million men, women, and children", Abdi said.

Another White House hopeful, Representative Seth Moulton, a 40-year-old former U.S. Marine Corps officer who did four tours in Iraq, told "This Week" that if the Trump administration sends additional troops to the Gulf it could "drag us into war". The Washington Post reported last week that Trump was "not comfortable with all this "regime change" talk" and that the president "wants to talk to the Iranians; he wants a deal". The president didn't elaborate, nor did the White House.

Though all sides have said they do not want war, heightened concerns have rattled oil markets and become a subject of debate at a meeting of OPEC oil exporters taking place in the Saudi city of Jeddah.
