China Supports Huawei's Legal Action After Google Complies With US Ban

Set to hit the shores of DxOMark

Huawei smartphone owners could find themselves missing out on some big new features and updates in the future as Google has revealed a shock new ban on the Chinese firm. Google will not be allowed to aid Huawei in development of its phones, and those phones will not be allowed to carry official Google apps like Gmail, the Play Store and more.

Reuters reported that even though there has been some suspension, current Huawei smartphone users with Google apps will be able to use and download app updates from Google. In a statement sent to the press, Huawei confirmed that the company will continue to provide security updates and customer service for all existing Huawei and Honor devices.

We have summed up the Android OS news above, but it isn't only Google that has to cease collaborations on proprietary projects with Huawei. American chipmakers Intel, Qualcomm, Broadcom, and Xilinx all announced they would stop selling components to Huawei, which are critical for the Chinese company to be able to make their smartphones and other products.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 6: Jaime Lannister curse revealed
He broke down in tears as her body fell limp in his arms before her remaining dragon , Drogon, came to take her body away. Let's start with Brienne of Tarth , who was knighted in Episode 802, "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms".

Huawei can still use the version of the Android operating system available through an open source licence, though. Besides smartphones, Huawei is also one of the biggest suppliers of network and telecom equipment in the world, and this ban will keep the company's routers, towers, and other equipment out of U.S. networks.

This could be a reference to United States president Donald Trump's executive order apparently aimed at banning Huawei's equipment from United States networks and said it was subjecting the Chinese company to strict export controls. The Chinese company has stated that it will continue servicing smartphones across the globe.

Huawei is now the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, behind Samsung.

Huawei is losing Android operating system updates, a source close to the matter told Reuters, and Huawei's upcoming phones outside China will no longer get access to apps and services like Gmail and Google Play.

Eventually, existing devices may be impacted, as they may lose access to updates to Android, including the update to Android Q coming soon. Over the years, Huawei also started putting their home-baked silicon inside their devices (HiSilicon Kirin), preventing themselves from relying on Qualcomm's Snapdragon.

In a statement Monday, Huawei said it has made "substantial contributions" to Android's global ecosystem; 2.5 billion devices around the world run on Android.

Disney takes over Hulu; streaming fight
In three years, NBCUniversal can terminate most of its licensing agreements with Hulu , if it chooses. And that's not to mention all the R-rated Fox films that can be put on Hulu instead of Disney+.

"As one of Android's key global partners, we have worked closely with their open-source platform to develop an ecosystem that has benefited both users and the industry", it added. Without Google services, Huawei Android phones would be uncompetitive.
