Denmark’s richest man loses three children in Sri Lanka bombings

Three children of the individual who owns the second largest extent of lands in England and is an extremely wealthy person in Denmark killed in the explosions

Three of Danish billionaire Anders Holch Povlsen's four children were among the almost 300 people killed on Easter Sunday when Islamic suicide bombers attacked hotels and churches in Sri Lanka, a spokesperson for Povlsen's company confirmed.

The names of the deceased children have not been released but Denmark's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said three Danes were killed in the attack.

The Danish entrepreneur owns clothing company Bestseller, which is the biggest shareholder in British fashion retailer Asos with a stake of over 26 percent.

He declined to give any additional detail surrounding the the incident, and asked that the media respect the family's privacy.

Danish media reported that Holch Povlsen was in Sri Lanka with his family on vacation.

Forbes named him the richest Dane in 2018, with a net worth pegged at $6.4 billion (world's No. 252).

Povlsen is Scotland's largest individual private landowner, holding more than 220,000 acres in the Scottish highlands.
