American Airlines extends cancellations until August 19 because of 737 Max grounding

American Airlines extends Boeing 737 Max cancellations through August

Boeing and the FAA announced March 12 that they would develop and recertify a set of modifications to the MCAS system and its related flight-control software.

"Once the Max is recertified, we anticipate bringing our Max aircraft back on line as spares to supplement our operation as needed during the summer", continued the carrier.

The model has suffered two deadly crashes in a matter of months, the first last October in Indonesia with the death of all 189 people on board and then in Ethiopia on March 10, killing all 157 aboard.

Muilenburg did not say when 737 Max planes may begin flying again.

Boy thrown from Mall of America balcony still hospitalized
A GoFundMe page was started by the child's family friend to help cover the "immense" medical and rehabilitation costs. Police learned at that time he had an existing trespass notice prohibiting him from the Mall until July of 2016.

Southwest's decision will lead to 160 cancellations of some 4,200 daily flights between June 8 and August 5, while American's removal through August 19 means about 115 daily cancellations, or 1.5 percent of its summer flying schedule each day.

American was cancelling about 90 flights per day through early June, but runs more flights and has less fleet flexibility in the peak summer travel months.

Boeing is under pressure to deliver an upgrade on software that is under scrutiny in both crashes.

United Airlines, which also ordered the 737 MAX 9, did not respond to an AFP query.

TMZ reports that Wendy has officially filed for divorce and served her soon to be estranged partner at the Wendy Williams studios. However, it's possible that Williams had a change of heart because there is a report that she just filed for divorce.

The plane's grounding has also threatened the US summer travel season, with some airlines removing the 737 from their schedules through August.

The airplane company extended flight cancellations through August 19 because the jets remain grounded, according to a report from CNBC. American has previously said that all flights that were originally scheduled on a MAX plane will not be canceled, with some being substituted with other aircraft. The plane crashed shortly after takeoff and investigators suspect a flaw in the system's anti-stall system caused the wreck.

The US Federal Aviation Administration, which must certify the 737 MAX's airworthiness, released a video last week in which its interim chief Daniel Elwell said the agency was working to keep pilots informed. He also noted that about two-thirds of the company's 50 737 Max operators worldwide had participated in a simulator session that included the new software.
