Barr has team reviewing origins of Russian Federation investigation

US Attorney General Expected to Face Mueller Report Questions

Attorney General William Barr on Tuesday said that he offered Robert Mueller the opportunity to review his four-page synopsis after the special counsel completed his two-year, $30 million probe into allegations that members of President Trump's campaign colluded with Russian Federation to alter the outcome of the 2016 election, but Mueller declined.

House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita Lowey, D, challenged the Attorney-General on how he could have synthesised the almost 400-page Mueller report into a four-page document so quickly, surmising "your mind must have already been made up".

Tuesday was his first congressional appearance since Special Counsel Robert Mueller submitted his report, and Attorney General was asked numerous questions about the ultimate release of Mueller's findings.

The lack of details in Barr's letter, his decision not to charge Trump and his refusal to release the report in full without redactions has angered Democrats, who fear he may be sugar coating Mueller's findings.

Mr. Barr said the report would be sent to Congress within a week, with redactions of confidential information such as grand jury testimony.

Kenya Lionesses Storm To Hong Kong 7s With Three Straight Wins
Australia will now need to beat both Fiji and Kenya in their remaining pool games on Saturday to progress to the same-day finals. In a do-or-die match, the Philippine men's rugby team nailed its first win in the tournament against Zimbabwe, 24-12.

"I could envision a situation where under appropriate safeguards, that information would be shared", Barr said. Barr has said that there are four categories of material that are going to be blacked out before it's made public.

Barr revealed the expected release of the watchdog report in testimony to lawmakers during a House budget hearing on April 9.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said Tuesday that Congress shouldn't be given the unredacted Mueller report because it would leak.

But many are speculating that Barr may have skewed the special counsel's report in a way that is favorable toward Trump.

Barr also dismissed accusations that he was hasty to release the March 24 letter outlining the conclusions of the report. Schiff said Tuesday that he had made a formal request for his committee to obtain the counterintelligence materials from Mueller's investigation.

Kirstjen Nielsen out as Homeland Security Secretary
Asked why he made the decision, which shocked Senate Republicans who were confident Vitiello would be confirmed, Mr. US President Donald Trump has announced Secretary of Homeland Security Kisrtjen Nielsen is leaving her position.

But, he said, he was willing to work with the Judiciary Committee on releasing information to satisfy their interests, while at the same time upholding the law.

Barr said in the summary released last month that Mueller didn't find a criminal conspiracy between the campaign and the Kremlin.

Facing the intensifying concerns from Democrats that he may have whitewashed Mueller's findings, Barr has twice moved to defend, or at least explain, his handling of the process since receiving the special counsel's report. They also told the news outlets that the issue of obstruction of justice was actually much more "acute than Barr suggested". The document makes no mention of Mueller's report or the Russian Federation investigation. The case against Sessions was eventually closed without charges.

"The process is going along very well", Barr said, "and my original timetable of being able to release this by mid-April stands. And then when the report came ... the deputy attorney general and I and our staffs worked closely for the balance ... of Saturday and Sunday". Last week, the House Judiciary Committee authorized a subpoena for the full report in case Barr does not make the entire document available.

Barr said he plans to release the redacted version of the report "within a week".

Chelsea owner Abramovich talks to Zola more than me - Sarri
Olivier Giroud , Chelsea's back-up striker, has scored more goals than Higuain since his arrival. But I think also that he will be able to be very useful for us in the last part of the season.

The request to the Justice Department, Schiff said, would fall under a grand jury exemption for material related to counterintelligence matters, and Schiff didn't rule out using a subpoena if necessary.
