Facebook and Instagram are down for users across the globe

You’re not alone Facebook & Instagram are experiencing issues

Apps for Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp were down for some users around the world for several hours Wednesday, with unidentified technical problems causing widespread disruptions.

The social networking giant says it's aware that some people are now having trouble accessing its family of apps, which includes Facebook, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram.

The issue was also impacting Instagram.

Rumors of mega-long 'Game of Thrones' episodes aren't true
According to Deadline, the network's updated TV schedule shows that the opening episode, which airs on April 14, will be 54 minutes long.

Facebook confirmed the platform-wide issue Wednesday afternoon, but had not yet released a fix as of about four hours after the outage first struck.

Some users reported that they were still able to access their accounts and newsfeed but could not post status updates or photos.

Facebook-owned social media network Instagram is experiencing difficulties in parts of the US, Europe and Asia. Users began reporting issues at around 4pm GMT, with full access to the platforms still ongoing. But Facebook now has billions of users across its services, many of whom rely on the company's apps for daily communication. Instagram was worse: posts weren't loading, Instagram Stories were down, and direct messages and the button to post new content were also not working.

Because the state hasn't executed anyone since 2006 due to legal challenges, Newsom's order is largely viewed as symbolic. Since the death penalty was reinstated by the Supreme Court in 1976, the state has executed 13 people.

Facebook's error message states "Facebook is down for required maintenance right now, but you should be able to get back on within a few minutes".

And there's probably some other underground social media network your kids aren't telling you about.

However, when switching over to desktop, the issues became even more apparent.
