Facebook founder says social network focus shifting to user privacy

Future of Facebook Is Private Encrypted Messaging Says Zuckerberg

Facebook will be looking to build a "simpler platform", Zuckerberg said in a blogpost. Looking at the future of the internet and privacy, I believe one of the most important decisions we'll make is where we'll build data centers and store people's sensitive data.

In the long blog post, Zuckerberg said a privacy-focused platform will be built around several principles. Facebook focuses mostly on stoking public conversation, but it also owns closed networks like WhatsApp.

Moreover, Facebook has a bad reputation for building protective privacy services, which has apologized for multiple time throughout its hearing with the US Congress in the past two years.

"I believe the future of communication will increasingly shift to private, encrypted services where people can be confident what they say to each other stays secure and their messages and content won't stick around forever", the Facebook CEO predicted.

Alex Stamos, a former Facebook chief security officer who is now on the Stanford University faculty, said the effort adroitly addresses some of the challenges for the social network.

According to reports , the patient is only the second person ever reported to have been cleared of the virus using this method. The London patient was diagnosed with HIV in 2003 but did not start to take drugs to control the infection until 2012.

Also, following the push into Stories, the video messages that disappear in 24 hours, Facebook will develop tools that let people set time limits so that content like photos and text posts will self-destruct. Zuckerberg, CEO, Facebook, wrote a long post detailing his company's intentions about privacy, user data among many other things. He said the social platform would spend the coming years assuring that its WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and Facebook content is encrypted so that outsiders, and even Facebook, can not read it. But Zuckerberg said that would become the default for all of Facebook's messaging products.

Facebook has tried in vain for years to bring its website to China - but it doesn't mean that the company is entirely absent from the country.

Even in India, Facebook and its social media platforms WhatsApp and Instagram appeared before a parliamentary committee recently to assure the Centre that they were complying with the local privacy laws. He also pointed out that these changes would take place "over the next few years".

The shift to more intimate communications between smaller groups, making those conversations private even from Facebook itself, and no longer keeping data for a long period of time is no doubt created to address the tech giant's poor track record on privacy in recent times. We know how valuable such information is, because documents released by the United Kingdom parliament show how Facebook used its Onavo virtual private network (VPN) app to gather usage data on competitors.

In December, Privacy International and German mobile security company Mobilsicher both published reports that many popular apps were automatically sharing user data with Facebook, even if those users don't have Facebook accounts or were logged out of the Facebook platform.

Kelly: ‘I have been assassinated’
He requested that the camera stay on him, and began to yell, calling the allegations "stupid", saying, "use your common sense". Kelly told King he has done quite a few things wrong in relationships but said he has apologized to women for those.

A lot of the ads you're seeing on Facebook come from Chinese companies.

That's not to say Facebook will suddenly lock itself down, but Zuck suggests a good dose of privacy paint could be slapped on Facebook's services.

Zuckerberg uses his F8 conference keynote in September to outline a vision in which data about our lives flows into Facebook, and is stored indefinitely, without our ongoing involvement.

Zuckerberg said on Wednesday that "significant thought" still needs to go into integrating commerce into messaging.
