USA calls for European Union sanctions on Iranian ballistic program

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warned of regional escalation after Iran conducted a missile test

The deal's terms and the UNSC resolution endorsing it never included a ban on ballistic missile tests.

"It is a grave and escalating threat, and nations around the world, not just Europe, need to do everything they can to be targeting Iran's missile program", he said.

The U.S. condemned Iran's growing missile proliferation and called for the country to "cease immediately" testing and other activities related to the weapons.

The Iranian regime has just test-fired a medium range ballistic missile that's capable of carrying multiple warheads.

Ahead of a UN Security Council meeting concerning Iran's weekend test of a nuclear-capable missile, Tehran's air force chief adopted a defiant tone Tuesday, insisting his country would continue to increase the range of its missiles.

He's had to work with two rookie wide receivers and a crumbling offensive line this season that's exacerbated the issues. McDaniels' innovativeness paired with Tom Brady's skill and command for the offense has led to unmatched success.

Iran has repeatedly said its missile program is purely defensive and denied that its missiles are capable of being tipped with nuclear warheads, or that the country has any intent of developing nuclear weapons through uranium enrichment.

The UN body adopted the resolution, which endorsed the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, also known as the Iran nuclear deal, in 2015.

"There is no Security Council resolution prohibiting the missile program and missile tests by Iran", state news agency IRNA quoted Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi as saying.

In a twist on Trump's "America First" policy, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Trump was not abandoning its global leadership but instead reshaping the post-World War Two system on the basis of sovereign states, not multilateral institutions.

The US reimposed oil and financial sanctions against Iran in November, a move it said was aimed at curbing its alleged missile and nuclear programmes. The agreement has the backing of most major USA allies, apart from Israel, though many in Israel's defense establishment supported it.

Saudi prince gets chummy, stern receptions at G-20 summit
Prince Muhammad met South Korean President Moon Jae-in and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto on the sidelines of a G20 summit . Mr Trump has branded the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, or USMCA, "the biggest trade deal in the United States history".

The threat from Iran is multifaceted, and certainly what they have done with this launch is violated the sense of the United Nations Security Resolution, that told them not to do these kinds of launches.

"U.S. [is] proliferating advanced weapons to extremists [including] Al Qaeda & ISIS [Islamic State]", Mr. Zarif tweeted, referring to a British newspaper report that said many arms supplied by Britain and the United States had ended up in the hands of militias fighting in the Yemen war. It shows that our best efforts to try to talk them out of their aggressive support of terrorism is probably going to be as unsuccessful as the U.N.'s effort to stop them from launching missiles.

On Monday, Hook said Trump's campaign of "maximum pressure" on Tehran since withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal "can be effective if more nations can join us in those [sanctions]".

The US pulled out of that deal in May, pitting Washington against several of its key European allies, who have sought to maintain the agreement in the face of heated rhetoric between the Donald Trump administration and the Iranian government, and the reinstatement of US sanctions on Tehran last month.
