Three US service members were killed and three wounded when an improvised explosive device detonated on Tuesday (Nov 26) near the central Afghan city of Ghazni, the NATO-led Resolute Support mission said in a statement.
Three other USA service members were wounded along with a US military contractor, they added.
The terror group didn't yet have a report about the attack on their website, or a claim of responsibility.
The Taliban are very active in the province and even kept parliamentary elections from being conducted there last month.
Duke Has Lost Its First Game Of The 2018-19 Season
San Diego State (3-1) was blown out by top-ranked Duke in its Maui opener and fell behind by 19 early against Xavier (2-3). Barrett took the Blue Devils' unbeaten record into his own hands and was rebuffed at every turn.
If it wasn't for US military support, the province would fall to the Taliban, Kamran said.
In accordance with US Department of Defense policy, the names of the service members killed in action were being withheld until 24 hours after their next of kin have been notified.
The tragedy came three days after Army Sgt. Leandro A.S. Jasso, 25, died during combat operations in Helmand province.
Tuesday's blast also follows a visit to Ghazni last week by the top USA commander in the country, Gen. Scott Miller, to discuss the security situation.
Coli outbreak, United States officials say don't eat romaine
According to PHAC, most symptoms end within five to 10 days, but you should contact a health care provider if symptoms persist. The current outbreak is not related to a recent multistate outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 infections linked to romaine lettuce .
The military later said that Jasso was likely killed by friendly fire from partner Afghan forces after they engaged in a "close-quarter battle" during an assault on one of the multiple barricaded al-Qaeda shooters.
A separate counterterrorism mission known as Freedom's Sentinel also is underway, with U.S. Special Operations troops often partnering with Afghan commandos to target the Islamic State and, occasionally, al-Qaeda.
Senior U.S. military officials have sought to reassure Afghan forces.
The war in Afghanistan began weeks after the 9/11 terror attacks, and the American death toll from the war has exceeded 2,200. The great majority of USA forces withdrew by the end of 2014, but those still in the country often are involved in supporting combat situations on the ground as well as by air. "If they suffer, we suffer", said Ahmad Khan Seerat, a Ghazni police spokesman.
A Mild Start, Possible Wintry Finish
The weekend is expected to be mild, but not before snowfalls as high as 10 centimetres hit Waterloo Region on Wednesday . No weather related travel delays are expected anywhere in the Rocky Mountain region for the day before Thanksgiving .
At least 11 U.S. service members have now died in Afghanistan this year, in combat or in so-called "insider attacks" by Afghan soldiers or police. Of those, 12 were combat fatalities, the most in a single year since the end of 2014, when most global combat troops were withdrawn from the country.
