Woman shot dead at Florida Walmart in domestic dispute

OPD says 54-year-old David Johnson shot and killed 30-year-old Carli Cronin at the Walmart on East Silver Springs Boulevard.

An argument Saturday at a Florida Walmart garden center ended when a woman was fatally shot several time.

Officials say the incident began as a domestic argument between the man and woman in the garden center at the Walmart.

The woman went inside the store after the shooting on Saturday afternoon, screaming for help.

Officers took Foster into custody after they noticed an inch-long scratch on Ennis' left collarbone, according to police. On the witness stand in May, she recanted her claim that Foster of assaulted her in retaliation for their breakup.

Ocala police said in a Facebook post late Saturday that Johnson then left the store on a bike after the shooting.

Police said he was later found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities were contacted after the victim was shot.

"When we arrived, we heard a gunshot, he was inside the residence with a self inflicted gunshot wound", Ocala Police Public Information Officer Meghan Shay said.

The victim and the gunman dated for about nine months but were now not a couple, according to Scotty Ballard.

The unidentified woman was taken by ambulance just before 3 p.m.to a local hospital but died a short time later. The woman died at a hospital.

Investigators have not released the woman's identity because they have not yet notified her family of her death. When she got outside the Walmart in Ocala she saw the man riding a bicycle away from the store. Walmart employees called 911 and tried to intervene, but the man shot her and fled.

No further details were immediately available.
