Lynch spoke about the 49ers decision to release linebacker Reuben Foster following an arrest surrounding domestic abuse on Saturday evening.

Foster was arrested on one count of first-degree misdemeanor domestic-violence battery this weekend at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay, where the team stayed before their game against the Buccaneers.

It was unclear Sunday morning whether Foster has retained an attorney.

Reuben Foster was involved in another, previously unknown, domestic disturbance incident on October 12 in Santa Clara, as reported by The San Francisco Chronicle. Tampa Police spokeswoman Janelle McGregor said a woman told police that Foster slapped her phone out of her hand, pushed her in the chest area and slapped her with an open hand on the left side of her face.

Philippines, China sign framework energy deal
On Tuesday, President Xi started his official state visit to the Philippines at the invitation of President Rodrigo Duterte . The heated disagreement meant no statement was issued at the end of the meeting for the first time in its 25-year history.

49ers General Manager John Lynch said the team made a decision to release Foster because it had set up specific ground rules for him that he violated.

Officers took Foster into custody after they noticed an inch-long scratch on Ennis' left collarbone, according to police.

Investigating officers learned that Foster and the victim had lived together in the past and were in an on-again, off-again relationship over the past three years, the release says. A Santa Clara County judge dismissed the felony domestic violence charges largely because of Ennis' testimony and the case never went to trial.

49ers general manager John Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan said in April following that arrest on domestic violence charges that were eventually dropped after the recantation that the team had a zero-tolerance policy. On the witness stand in May, she recanted her claim that Foster of assaulted her in retaliation for their breakup. We'll see what happens in the court of law. "I feel strongly about that".

Redskins QB Alex Smith endures season ending injury
Redskins legend Joe Theismann soon weighed in - posting on Twitter that Smith's injury was reminiscent of his own in 1985. The Redskins traded for Smith in the offseason, sending a third-round pick and corner Kendall Fuller to Kansas City.

This time, Lynch, Shanahan and the organization had no appetite to let the legal process play out while saving Foster's roster spot for an eventual return.

The 49ers drafted Foster 31st overall previous year after questions about his health and character caused him to drop from being a possible top 10 pick.

When the woman recanted her allegations, only the weapons charge remained, and Foster pleaded no contest to misdemeanor weapons possession.

He was widely considered a top-10 talent but his draft stock dropped due to concerns about his habits off the field and ongoing issues with an injured shoulder that required surgery following his final college season.
