Saudi Consulate Vehicle Searched In Istanbul In Khashoggi Probe

Jamal Khashoggi was killed after going into the consulate on 2 October

Visa records are confidential and Pompeo was not more specific about who the revocations would affect, but the State Department later said 21 "Saudi suspects" would have visas revoked or would be declared ineligible to enter the U.S.

There have been many reports, unconfirmed by CBS News, that allege certain details based on Turkish sources. That includes, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Tuesday, members of the kingdom's "intelligence services, the royal court, the Foreign Ministry and other Saudi ministries".

Of the almost two dozen Saudis affected by the State Department's decision, most already have visas, and their documents are being revoked, The Washington Post reported. Khashoggi expressed concern about Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's efforts to consolidate power, which included arresting fellow princes and businessmen.

President Donald Trump has hedged his criticism of Saudi leaders over the disappearance and death of US resident and Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, insisting he does not want to imperil a "tremendous order" of $110 billion of weapons he says will support 500,000 U.S.jobs - figures that experts say are highly exaggerated.

"The cover-up was the worst in the history of cover-ups", Trump told reporters.

Erdogan on Tuesday delivered a sharp rebuttal of Saudi Arabia's widely criticized account that the dissident writer died accidentally in a brawl, saying Saudi officials had planned the killing for days.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan vowed Turkey would not allow the culprits to get away with "savage murder".

Although Khashoggi was killed in the consulate general of Saudi Arabia, the crime was committed in Turkey, which makes Ankara pay more attention to this, he said.

Syria ordered Gaza rocket fire at Israel with Iran backing: army
Images from inside of the hospital show that its ceiling ruptured and one of the windows in the patients ward broken. A Hamas official said that following the escalation that Egypt was again seeking to negotiate a return to calm.

Vice-President Mike Pence said Tuesday that the death of Saudi writer Jamal Khashoggi "will not go without an American response" and that the Central Intelligence Agency director was in Turkey to review evidence in the case.

But Erdogan made no mention of such an audiotape in his speech.

Since Khashoggi's death, social media users, including his editor at the Washington Post, have called on the kingdom to lift the ban in order for the family to mourn his death together. If their involvement was proven, Trump said: "I would be very upset about it".

Riyadh has maintained that neither bin Salman nor his father, King Salman, knew of the operation to target Khashoggi. On Tuesday, the Turkish president asked, "Who is the local collaborator?"

Khashoggi's death has derailed the powerful prince's campaign to project a modern image of the ultraconservative country, instead highlighting the brutal lengths to which some top officials in the government have gone to silence its critics.

Even before the news of his death, Democratic lawmakers have effectively blocked at least four military equipment deals from being finalized, leaving them in limbo, largely because of Saudi attacks that killed Yemeni civilians.

"The incident took place in Istanbul. therefore the adjudication of these 18 [suspects] should be carried out in Istanbul", he said. "Therefore the adjudication of these ..."

Erdoğan said that 15 Saudi nationals flew into Turkey before the murder. "To cover up such savagery would hurt the human conscience".

"I want to speak about the killing of Khashoggi, this fact has been established".

The Turkish leader said three operatives arrived in Istanbul the day before the killing on an apparent reconnaissance mission. Turkish officials earlier said they had recordings confirming that Khashoggi was tortured, killed, had his fingers cut off and was dismembered.

SNC-Lavalin, which has extensive business ties with Saudi Arabia, refused to say whether it would attend this year.

Khashoggi, once a prominent journalist in Saudi Arabia and an adviser to the royal family, left previous year after Saudi leadership barred him from writing.

Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih admitted: "We are going through a crisis".

"I want to send them a message that they can not do this as long as there a king named Salman bin Abdulaziz and a crown prince named Mohammed bin Salman in Saudi Arabia, and a president in Turkey named Erdogan".

Falih said Khashoggi's killing was regrettable, adding that "nobody in the kingdom can justify it".
