Google Play Movies & TV Libraries Get Free Upgrade to 4K in Canada

Google Play Movies Hands Out Free 4K Upgrades, Drops 4K Pricing Too

Google Play Movies & TV has announced some new and exciting features that will begin today. Numerous service's "top films" are £13.99, with the very latest costing £1 more and older titles priced only £7.99. This follows a similar move by Apple previous year, however Google is upgrading SD and HD movies to UHD whereas Apple only upgraded the HD content: for those eligible for the upgrade that's a huge bonus.

The Play Store began offering UHD content back in late 2016, and today will upgrade existing SD and HD movie purchases to 4K for free in the USA and Canada. A handful of those titles can also be rented in 4K for £6.99.

Saudi state media confirms journalist Jamal Khashoggi is dead
Khashoggi disappeared on October 2 after entering the consulate to obtain a document he needed to marry his fiancée. In recent days, key worldwide figures have announced they've cancelled plans to attend the Saudi summit.

Google is offering movie buffs who have bought standard or HD titles from its Play store a valuable perk: they can now access the ultra high definition 4K versions of the same titles (if available) at no extra cost. It's all on us, just open the Play Movies & TV app and we'll let you know which titles have been upgraded.

If you've ever bought a movie on Google Play and chose to save a few bucks by buying it in standard definition, you might've just lucked out. Leading up to this announcement, 4K films had typically cost somewhere between $25 and $30 unless they were on sale.
