High-Ranking Saudi Intel Officer Oversaw Khashoggi's Interrogation

Turkish President Erdogan says some materials at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul have been tampered with

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has met Turkey's president and foreign minister over the disappearance and alleged slaying of Saudi writer Jamal Khashoggi.

The top U.S. diplomat on Wednesday refused to blame Riyadh, saying he did not want "to talk about any of the facts" - a day after President Trump said the kingdom must be presumed to be innocent. The three posed for photos, but said nothing in front of reporters.

Khashoggi has been missing since he entered the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul on October 2.

Turkish authorities have told USA officials that they have recordings from inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul that provide evidence that the missing journalist was killed inside. "Nothing happens in Saudi Arabia without MBS knowing it", he said.

Turkish investigators were expected to carry out a search of the Saudi Consul General's residence in Istanbul later on Tuesday. "They have nothing but contempt", he said. Kavanaugh was eventually confirmed after the FBI investigation found no corroborating evidence for the charges.

"There seems to be clear evidence that Khashoggi entered the Consulate and has never been seen since, the onus is on the Saudi authorities to reveal what happened to him from that point onwards", she said.

Saudi considers admitting Khashoggi died in botched op
Google said in a statement on Monday that Google Cloud chief executive Diane Greene will not be attending the event. The Arabic-language daily Okaz wrote a headline yesterday in English warning: "Don't Test Our Patience".

Yeni Safak did not say how the recordings came into existence or how it obtained them.

Saudi Arabia said the men were tourists.

A spokeswoman for the Saudi Embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the discussions. That doesn't mean the Saudis are denying Khashoggi was killed; it just means the crown prince was saying they didn't order it or sanction it. However, Riyadh insists that the journalist, a known critic of Saudi King Salman, had left the building and that the murder claims are "baseless".

President Trump compared allegations that the Saudi government authorized the killing of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi to accusations of sexual misconduct against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

The US's defence of its most important Arab ally may become harder to maintain as further damning details into Khashoggi's alleged murder emerge and its links to the powerful crown prince.

"I emphasised the importance of conducting a thorough, transparent, and timely investigation, and the Saudi leadership pledged to deliver precisely on that", Pompeo said.

Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey could still stay at the club - Arsene Wenger
Juventus have made it a habit of signing players on bargains with Emre Can joining them on a free at the start of this season. Asked whether he would stay at the club for the remainder of the campaign, he added: "Of course, yeah".

Pompeo said the Saudis would investigate and hold themselves accountable, but Saudi's royal family is notoriously opaque.

Khashoggi, a contributor to The Washington Post, vanished on 2 October during a visit to the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

Khashoggi, a Saudi writer who frequently contributed to The Washington Post, is a US resident and a vocal critic of his country's government.

Pompeo wouldn't say whether Khashoggi is alive or dead, and said the Saudis didn't want to talk about it either.

Pompeo said: "They made a commitment to hold anyone connected to any wrongdoing that may be found accountable for that, whether they are a senior officer or official".
