Donald Trump says allegations against Brett Kavanaugh were a 'hoax'

Kavanaugh shown here testifying to the Senate Judiciary Committee has become the latest US Supreme Court justice

At a White House swearing-in ceremony, Trump stood next to Justice Brett Kavanaugh and said he'd been "proven innocent" of the sexual assault allegations that threatened to derail him in a Senate confirmation process revealing the depth of the left-right split tearing through American politics.

Reuters President Donald Trump, in comments to reporters outside the White House on Monday, dismissed the sexual misconduct allegations against Brett Kavanaugh as "a hoax".

Ahead of the United States mid-term elections, Mr Trump added: "I think you're going to see a lot of things happen on 6 November that would not have happened before".

Sen. Chris Coons, a Democrat from the state of DE, called impeachment talk "premature", while House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said it "would not be my plan" to impeach the justice.

All eight Supreme Court justices attended the reception, along with the Republican members of the Senate Judiciary Committee. "If an opening comes in the previous year of President Trump's term, and the primary process has started, we'll wait till the next election", Graham said during an appearance at the Atlantic Festival in Washington. "Folks who feel very strongly one way or the other about the issues in front of us should get out and vote and participate".

Real Madrid haven't scored in three matches in a row, something that never happened during Cristiano Ronaldo's time at the club. In the 33rd minute Blaise Matuidi forced a save from David Von Ballmoos that Dybala followed up and calmly place in the net.

Ford alleged that newly confirmed Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her while the two were at a party in high school, and other accusers soon came forward. Trump, who is scheduled to administer another swearing in for Kavanaugh at a ceremonial function at the White House, told reporters that the conduct of the Democrats during the entire nomination process was disgraceful.

It was the narrowest Senate vote to confirm a justice since 1881.

Even before the allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced, some Democrats questioned Kavanaugh's truthfulness during his initial Senate confirmation hearing. Previously, Trump had said he found Ford's testimony "very compelling".

Heading into pivotal midterm elections, McConnell tried to distinguish between President Donald Trump's nomination of Kavanaugh this year and his own decision not to have the Republican-run Senate consider then President Barack Obama's high court nominee, Merrick Garland, in 2016.

Kavanaugh's confirmation had already been all but sealed Friday, when he won the support of key Senate Republican Susan Collins and conservative Democrat Joe Manchin. Following the hearing and under tremendous political pressure, Trump had ordered a last-minute Federal Bureau of Investigation supplemental inquiry.

Accusations from several women remain under scrutiny, and House Democrats have pledged further investigation if they win the majority in November.

'The American public has seen this charade, has seen this dishonesty by the Democrats, ' Trump said. "This country would end up being Venezuela". Most of his new colleagues were on hand to see him sworn in on Saturday (Sunday NZT), as was the man Kavanaugh succeeded, retired Justice Anthony Kennedy.

"I've always been told it's the biggest thing a president can do and I can understand that", he said. "He's a flawless person".

"I think you're going to see a lot of things happen on November 6 that would not have happened before", he said. On Monday, he called the situation a disgrace. "We toughed it out together".

The 53-year-old justice was sworn in on Saturday evening in a private ceremony at the Supreme Court.

Backed by senators, Kavanaugh on track for U.S
In public testimony last week Prof Ford said she had been assaulted by Judge Kavanaugh when they were both teenagers in 1982. Susan Collins has indicated she is a "yes" vote on the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court .
