UK Labour to vote on second Brexit poll

JEREMY-CORBYN

The final draft for the vote says: "If we can not get a general election, Labor must support all options remaining on the table, including campaigning for a public vote".

"Dozens of motions were submitted to #Lab18, thousands have marched on the streets, and millions more have called for a #PeoplesVote", he tweeted.

But its stance is likely to come under pressure from activists on the conference floor.

"Obviously I'm bound by the democracy of our party".

"So if conference makes a decision I will not walk away from it and I will act accordingly".

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has so far played a canny game by allowing the debate to tie the government in knots while remaining ambiguous, but the time is nearing to reveal his hand.

In his party conference speech, Sir Keir will say: "I know that people want clarity on where we stand on the deal now".

Party members expected to vote in favour of such a measure on Tuesday, throwing up ideological and practical concerns for veteran socialist Corbyn.

US Senate Judiciary Committee sets Kavanaugh vote for Friday
Another woman, Deborah Ramirez , has accused him of sexual misconduct when she and Kavanaugh were students at Yale University. She wrote that she was incapacitated, perhaps drugged with Quaaludes, and was "unable to fight off the boys raping me".

While the majority of Labour members back a "people's vote", senior party figures have taken opposing views over what it should look like.

"Ultimately we are not in control of this process right now".

"We want accountability and we will get it".

Labour should back a second referendum on Brexit if its members want one, deputy leader Tom Watson has said.

"If Jeremy Corbyn were to come out and support a second referendum, and they had a snap election next month, I think they would win", said Claire Hallett, 60, who was with her dog Desmond, draped in an European Union flag.

Some 81% believe their standard of living would get worse after Brexit and 89% said it would be bad for jobs.

Labour's polling numbers have remained relatively stable in recent months, although the chaos in the Tory party could mask any impact of the scandal, according to Fielding.

But even as the president champions what he calls America's " sovereignty ", aides insist his strategy is not simply go-it-alone. General Assembly on Tuesday, calling on world leaders to isolate Tehran and vowing to impose further sanctions on the country.

Since the 2016 referendum, Labour has stuck to a policy of "constructive ambiguity" in a bid to appeal to both "leave" and "remain" voters.

"The next leader of the Labour party has to be a woman."

Shadow equalities minister Ms Butler's comments were criticised by fellow Labour frontbencher Baroness Thornton.

Jon Lansman, who founded the pro-Corbyn Momentum grassroots movement that is gaining increasing sway within Labour, told AFP: "The compromise we have got today is a good way of uniting the party".

But some Tory moderates had hoped that, faced with the prospect of no deal, some Labour MPs would vote with the Government.

Brexit minister Robin Walker accused Labour of trying to take the United Kingdom "back to square one" and of wanting to re-run the referendum, saying: "Labour promised to respect the referendum result, but are just playing political games and trying to frustrate it".

And the first day of the annual event kicked off with a protest through Liverpool city centre, with hundreds of marchers making a direct plea to Mr Corbyn to "listen to us" and campaign for another vote.

Asked what the vote would be on, Mr McDonnell told the BBC that "Parliament will decide what will be on that ballot paper, adding he would be "arguing that it should be a vote on the deal itself".

There's not much he can do about paying the 10 percent duty, or $30,000, on those vehicle-lighting parts. Those places are most affected which depended on United States order books mainly.

Some sections of the crowd also chanted directly at party leader Jeremy Corbyn, saying: "Hey Jeremy, take a note, for the many, People's Vote".
