Rosenstein to meet Pres. Trump Thursday as job hangs in balance

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says he has

A DOJ official informed Breitbart News Monday evening that Rosenstein will be hosting a meeting for state attorneys general with U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the rest of DOJ's top brass. But whether Rosenstein resigned or gets fired matters.

Rosenstein also signed off on Mueller sending a tax and fraud case against Michael Cohen to the US Attorney's office for the Southern District of NY, a move that ultimately led to an Federal Bureau of Investigation raid on the offices and homes of the President's former lawyer, who is now speaking with prosecutors.

Rosenstein's future ignited a series of conflicting reports on Monday, with the Axios news website cited an unidentified source with knowledge of the matter as saying he had verbally resigned to White House Chief of Staff John Kelly.

Last week's New York Times report that Rosenstein discussed invoking the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office and even - perhaps jokingly - offered to wear a wire all but sealed his fate. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer warned Mr Trump against seizing on the report that Mr Rosenstein suggested covertly taping him.

U.S. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein departs the West Wing of the White House after a meeting on FBI investigations into the 2016 Trump presidential campaign with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House in Washington, U.S., May 21, 2018.

Trump says second Kavanaugh accuser was 'drunk,' says Democrats playing 'con game'
Ashley Kavanaugh was asked whether she wondered if her husband was telling the truth about the allegations against him. Kavanaugh said Monday, "I never did any such thing". "Gee, let's not make him a Supreme Court judge".

Trump, who is in NY for the U.N. General Assembly, told reporters he would meet with Rosenstein on Thursday when he returns to Washington.

Trump has always been critical of Rosenstein and the Special Counsel's investigation, calling it a politically-motivated witch hunt.

Solicitor General Noel Francisco, the highest-ranking Senate-confirmed official below Rosenstein in the Justice Department, would be in line to take control of the Mueller investigation.

Pressed by ABC's "Good Morning America" host George Stephanopoulos on whether Trump has confidence in Rosenstein, Sanders said: "The president has confidence in the system".

Rosenstein said the report was not accurate. If Trump told Rosenstein to include Russian Federation in the memo and Rosenstein opted not to, that arguably makes him even more of what is known as a "fact witness" in the case.

There's not much he can do about paying the 10 percent duty, or $30,000, on those vehicle-lighting parts. Those places are most affected which depended on United States order books mainly.

"Some news organizations reported that Rosenstein had submitted a verbal resignation to White House officials", NPR reported on Monday.

Rosenstein's decisions, including the renewal of a warrant to surveil a former Trump campaign adviser, have prompted furious Twitter outbursts from the president.

As deputy attorney general, Rosenstein has made two public announcements of indictments brought by the special counsel - one against Russians accused of hacking into Democratic email accounts, the other against Russians accused of running a social media troll farm to sway public opinion.

The allegation about Rosenstein detailed in last week's New York Times story was included in contemporaneous memos kept by ousted Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe.

Sanders also wouldn't say that the president has confidence in Rosenstein but only that he has "confidence in the system". Francisco served as a clerk to late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and began his career in private practice with arch-conservative firm Cooper, Carvin, & Rosenthal (now Cooper & Kirk) before joining the Bush White House.
