Rosenstein, expecting to be fired, heads to White House

President Donald Trump pauses as he speaks during a campaign rally

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has offered his verbal resignation to Chief of Staff John Kelly, Axios reports.

But the latest move comes after a New York Times report of Rosenstein comments early in 2017. He plans to step down, Axios reported. He denied both allegations.

Trump was not at the White House; he traveled to New York City for the United Nations General Assembly.

Police Release Identity of Suspected Maryland Shooter
CNN reports that residents in the area of the shooting were very surprised that something so tragic could happen so close. Police refused to release details of the suspect, but multiple media outlets suggested the shooter may have been a woman.

In a radio interview aired on Monday, Mr Trump said he had not decided whether to fire Mr Rosenstein. The person said Rosenstein had expressed to others that he should resign because he "felt very compromised" and was now a potential witness in the Russian Federation probe rather than a supervisor, according to a person close to Trump. He also reportedly raised the possibility of invoking the 25th amendment, which would remove the president from office on the grounds of mental incapacity. That job will now likely fall to deputy Attorney General Noel Francisco. If Rosenstein is fired it limits Trump's options.

Trump has repeatedly dismissed the Mueller probe as a "witch hunt" created to delegitimize his election victory and undermine his presidency.

Further, The Washington Post quoted an unnamed individual saying Rosenstein quipped sarcastically after McCabe pushed for an investigation into the president, "What do you want to do Andy?"

And midfielder Willian added: "The way we play we can try to win titles". "I don't know", he said. West Ham face Chelsea this weekend at The London Stadium hoping to build on their momentum.

"I haven't gotten all the facts, but certainly it's being looked at in terms of what took place", Trump said. Others suggested restraint while seeing if the report was incorrect or if it was planted by some adversary.

For the president and his supporters, especially House Republicans on the Judiciary and intelligence committees, that meant putting a bull's eye on Rosenstein. He was supervising the probe after Attorney General Jeff Sessions had to recuse himself because of his involvement in the campaign.
