"The Texas Rangers had an opportunity to interview the officer", Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall said Saturday.

The shooting happened around 10 p.m. Thursday.

Police said Guyger, who was dressed in full uniform, shot Jean in his apartment.

However, it was not the right apartment.

The police chief further said it was not clear what happened after that.

DPD's announcement came after an attorney representing Jean's family named Guyger, 30, as the off-duty cop who shot and killed Jean Thursday night. She reported the shooting to dispatchers and she told officers who responded that she had mistaken Jean's apartment for her own. Yelling. Kind of running.

"He was great, as a neighbor - quiet, friendly, super chill", Kinsey said.

"I didn't know she was white until now". "And ask that the community remain patient as this investigation is conducted".

Jean described himself on LinkedIn as a "young professional, engaged in developing a career built upon integrity, dedication and relationships, leveraging useful technologies to gain an understanding of and add value in a range (of) industries, striving towards leadership in my career, my community and society".

Beware, NFL: Eagles defense may have gotten even better
Only Philly fans could boo their team off the field in the first half of a game in which the team just raised a Super Bowl banner. But early in the second Nelson Agholor found Nick Foles for a 15-yard gain ahead of Ajayi's first touchdown.

DPD cut the news conference with the chief short when reporters still had a lot of questions.

Per CBS News, the Texas Rangers have taken over the investigation and have placed a manslaughter charge against Guyger on hold. However, those cases involve officers who were on duty at the time of the shootings. A blood sample was also taken from the officer to test for drugs and alcohol, according to Hall. "Therefore, we have ceased handling it under our normal officer-involved shooting protocol".

Jean's mother, Allison, spoke at the vigil for her son after arriving in the city from their native St. Lucia the same day. She said she heard more footsteps outside her apartment, a woman's voice and a commotion.

Kerry Ray worked with Botham Jean at PricewaterhouseCooper.

"This is a bad tragedy. Certainly no one that has been attached to the family or any of the law enforcement officers we've spoken to can confirm that, in fact they say just the opposite".

'You want to think it's fiction. and you have to grapple with the reality, ' he said. Jean went home and called his grandmother in Saint Lucia; she taught it to him over the phone, from thousands of miles away. The state investigators, she said, said they needed more time to investigate. Jean's mother, Allison Jean, asked, according to the Associated Press.

Allie Jean said her son lived in a gated apartment complex and had no reason not to trust anyone who was at his door.

Pastor Bryan Carter from Concord Church attended the news conference.

"The ball is in their court", Hall said.

"He's that kind of person", she said.

Councilman Scott Griggs tweeted that Jean "was killed under very suspicious circumstances".

DPD hired Guyger, a patrol officer, in November 2013.

Kingston declined to discuss his Facebook comment, which appeared on a news story he posted.

She said she met Jean when she first moved into the South Side Flats in April.

Some protesters carried signs with the names of other black men who have also been killed by police. "In doing so, we hope to bring understanding to the family". "I believe a lot of police get insufficient training". "In my opinion, manslaughter is unacceptable", said demonstrator Diane Ragesdale. But as of late Saturday, no formal charge had been filed, and no arrest warrant had been issued.
