Trump aide Papadopoulos gets 14 days in prison

Former Trump adviser George Papadopoulos sentenced to 14 days in plea deal with Mueller probe

Papadopoulos "was the first to plead guilty in the [Special Counsel Robert Mueller probe into Russian interference]".

Russian Federation has denied US allegations that it interfered in the campaign and President Trump denies campaign collusion.

Prosecutors had asked Judge Randolph Moss in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to impose a prison sentence of up to six months, saying that Mr. Papadopoulos's lies impeded their investigation and that he did not co-operate.

Within weeks, he made contact with a mysterious professor, Joseph Mifsud, who touted links to the Kremlin and introduced him to others who ostensibly had connections to Russian President Vladimir Putin - including a woman who claimed to be Putin's niece. Trump referenced Papadopoulos' 14-day prison term in his tweet. That probe was later taken over by Mueller.

Others associated with Trump's campaign, including former national security adviser Michael Flynn and deputy campaign manager Rick Gates, have accepted plea deals.

British Airways hacked with details of 380,000 bank cards stolen
But what you do after you call the bank? In May, US airline Delta revealed two breaches during September and October a year ago . British Airways says it is investigating "as a matter of urgency" the theft of customer data from its website and mobile app.

Moss noted that many similar cases resulted in probation but said he imposed a sentence of incarceration partly to send a message to the public that they can't lie to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

US District Judge Randolph Moss said that Papadopoulos' deception was "not a noble lie" and that he had lied because he wanted a job in the Trump administration and didn't want to jeopardise that possibility by being tied to the Russian Federation investigation.

They are cooperating with investigators and await sentencing.

Papadopoulos had told investigators that the conversation happened before he became a Trump campaign adviser, when in fact he had worked for the campaign for more than a month at the time.

Federal Bureau of Investigation agents interviewed Papadopoulos in January 2017, and he lied about his April 2016 conversation with Joseph Mifsud, a Maltese professor working in London who had ties to Russian officials.

Calm before the storm Tuesday; Gordon moves in Wednesday — ALERT DAY
The National Weather Service said conditions were "possible" for tornadoes in the affected parts of South Florida on Monday night. According to reports, Hurricane Gordon threatens to spread flooding rains into the Mississippi Delta and Midwest later this week.

Papadopoulos's attorneys had asked for probation for their client and said in court filings that Papadopoulos misled investigators to try to save his professional ambitions and out of a "perhaps misguided loyalty to his master" but not for more sinister reasons. But he attended foreign policy meetings with candidate Trump and then-Sen.

The statement conflicts directly with statements made by Sessions and the Trump administration, who have maintained that Sessions dismissed the idea of rejecting foreign assistance when Papadopoulos suggested it.

That account conflicts with what Sessions, now attorney general, testified before Congress.

As part of his sentence, Papadopoulos also will have one year of court supervision, 200 hours of community service and was fined $9,500.
