Woodward White House book portrays officials trying to rein in Trump

Bob Woodward Trump obstruction of justice sotu_00000000

Now it's Donald Trump's turn under the microscope. "We're doing this in order to prevent World War III", Mattis said, according to the book. That I can tell you.

What I take away from all this is that Mattis is in a hard position.

White House Chief of Staff John Kelly denied a report by the Washington Post's Bob Woodward that he called President Donald Trump an idiot, and Trump's spokeswoman called Woodward's latest book a collection of "fabricated stories".

Mattis agreed to take action, but after he hung up, he ordered "more measured" steps against Syria, a punitive air strike.

The United States remains part of both trade agreements as it negotiates new terms.

Woodward describes these acts as "no less than an administrative coup d'etat".

Trump's former personal lawyer, John Dowd, reportedly said Trump is "a fucking liar" and told him he'd end up in an "orange jumpsuit" should he testify to Robert Mueller.

Uhuru Leaves to Attend China-Africa Forum in Beijing
India too in recent years has stepped up its political, diplomatic and economic engagement with Africa in recent years. China's economic data shows trade between Beijing and the continent's countries rose 14 percent a year ago to $170bn.

Well, at least the president is aware of how bad it sounded when he blamed the protesters rallying to oppose white supremacy for violence that erupted at the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, about a year ago. "Let's kill the (expletive) lot of them", Trump said.

Woodward does not name his sources.

Of course Trump has had terrible things to say about Barack Obama, but it's not like he called him a "weak d**k" in the debates like he reportedly did in private.

Dobbs went on to play the tape where Woodward can be heard saying his book will be "a tough look" at the president.

The former marine general has also doubted Mr Trump's mental faculties, declaring during one meeting: "We're in Crazytown". Where there's something happening in the White House, there's Woodward ready to report it to the people, and that hasn't changed.

Gary Cohn, the former director of the national economic council, boasted of removing papers from the president's desk to prevent him withdrawing from the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

Trump makes an apparent habit of verbally abusing his senior staff. "You're past your prime". And a John Kelly quote: "He's an idiot. He just scurries around".

Trump only has himself to blame for the Mueller probe
With Sessions gone, Trump could appoint a new, un-recused top prosecutor, who could interfere with special counsel Robert S. Trump has also upped his rhetoric against the Mueller probe, which he has already branded a "hoax" and a 'witch hunt'.

As for Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who the president has publicly berated, privately he was even more disparaging. He's this dumb Southerner.

The next morning, Dowd quit as one of Trump's lawyers. The really insane people are the Republicans who think we should continue to entrust a man manifestly unfit to be Queens Borough president with the presidency of the United States of America.

And the chaos inside the White House has an effect on policy. The twenty-something man who demanded that New Yorkers regarded him as a mogul-in-the-making has always operated with a high level of bluster and bluff. Hours after the Post and CNN published excerpts of Woodward's book, there has been no formal push-back or denial from the president or his staff.

Mattis reportedly compared Trump's comprehension of national security and world affairs to that of a "fifth or sixth grader".

Mr Trump described the incendiary book as "nasty stuff", denying certain scenes occurred.

Mueller has asked the White House for access to Trump, and administration officials have negotiated for months over how that might happen. "But I don't blame you entirely". You know I'm very open to you.

Reportedly alarmed by Trump's volatile combination of ignorance and impulsiveness, Woodward reports that top White House aides devised a strategy of stealing documents from the president's desk so he wouldn't see or sign them. In it, the president claims he was never contacted for an interview or informed of Woodward's soon-to-be-published work - an assertion the reporter successfully rebuts. "This is the worst job I've ever had", Kelly added. "And because you're our President, I wish you good luck".

California net neutrality bill goes to Gov. Jerry Brown
The fight isn't over yet: The state senate still needs to pass it, and Governor Jerry Brown (D), will need to sign it. For example, a company could not give free speedy access to its own streaming service but slow down Netflix.

Dowd later pleaded with Trump directly: "Don't testify".
