Nick Kyrgios receives on-court pep talk from US Open umpire

Nick Kyrgios, right, of Australia, shakes hands with Radu Albot, of Moldova, after Kyrgios won their first round match at the U.S. Open tennis tournament, Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, in NY.

Kyrgios went on to win the second, third, and fourth sets to win the match.

On Thursday, it was chair umpire Mohamed Lahyani who tried to implore Kyrgios to use his talents and start showing a little effort on the court.

Kyrgios saw the trainer two games later but sent him away with a pat on the back after receiving some salt to help with the effects of the heat and soon turned things around, recovering the break in the second set and growing more dominant as the match went on in a 4-6 7-6 (8/6) 6-3 6-0 victory.

Apple will release the biggest iPhone in history
The two top end iPhone models should have enhanced cameras and speeds while the third will offer a more affordable option. That's per sources speaking to Bloomberg: 6.5-inch and 5.8-inch OLED models, together with a cheaper 6.1-inch LCD phone.

When asked afterwards about Layhani's intervention, Kyrgios said: "He was concerned about how I was playing, like, 'Nick, are you OK?' I said everything was fine, I just wasn't feeling great".

According to Earley, the official said he wanted to check whether Kyrgios needed medical attention and to warn the player that Lahyani "would need to take action" if the "seeming lack of interest in the match continued".

Nick Kyrgios was struggling against Pierre-Hugues Herbert before a dramatic turnaround following a chat with the umpire. On-court microphones caught the chair umpire delivering a motivational speech - bordering on something you'd only hear from a coach - to the Aussie.

"It's happened in Shanghai before when we all know I had that moment in Shanghai where the referee said the same thing: "It's not good for the integrity of the sport, doesn't have a good look", Kyrgios said. "I can't think of one".

Kyrgios could meet Roger Federer in the third round. "I don't go out at all", said the 21-year-old who will next face compatriot Philipp Kohlschreiber. It was not just about How are you feeling? And a second-set pep talk from an umpire may have had something to do with it.

Down one set and 2-5 in the second, Kyrgios appeared to be in the midst of a mild meltdown on a scorching afternoon. "I don't think he's a coach, he's an umpire, and he should stay on his chair for that".

"I go into that match with zero expectation". He was there for too long.

Seeking some sort of physical treatment, Kyrgios responded to Lahyani: "Okay". It's a conversation. Conversations can change your mindset. "It can be a physio, a doctor, an umpire, for that matter", Federer said.
