Cohen Pleads Guilty to Tax Evasion, Campaign Contribution Violations

Michael Cohen

It came the same day former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort was found guilty in a Virginia court on eight of the 18 bank and financial fraud charges he was facing. Legal experts mostly agree this is unlikely.

The verdict was part of a stunning one-two punch of bad news for the White House, coming as the president's former lawyer, Michael Cohen, was pleading guilty in NY as part of a separate deal with prosecutors. I don't think I need to hide behind anything. However, according to Trump's attorney, Rudy Giuliani, the president isn't now mulling a pardon for Manafort. Manafort's defense team also moved to have one of the jurors removed because they believed she had been untruthful during her questioning.

Forrest Gump may have become famous for running to escape bullies and to escape a broken heart, but reporters working on the Paul Manafort case in the United States went viral for their run to break a national news.

Swiss drugmaker Novartis AG has said it had paid Cohen almost $1.2 million in a consulting deal; US telecommunications company AT&T Inc. said it made payments of $600,000; and South Korea's Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd. said it hired him for $150,000.

Even the tip of the gun and the metal around the gun reflects the ideal light from the fire and other light in the image. We were playing on an external, day-time level, though with lots of moving parts and lots of intersecting shadows.

Lanny Davis, Mr. Cohen's attorney, said on Twitter: "Today, he stood up and testified under oath that Donald Trump directed him to commit a crime by making payments to two women for the principal objective of influencing an election". Manafort's defense team asked for a full mistrial, but after interviewing each juror, the judge denied this request.

No charges have been filed yet as a result of the investigation into Cohen.

Democrats immediately seized on the news to attack the president, as they look ahead to congressional elections in November where they hope to win back at least one chamber of Congress.

Since winning the 2016 election, Trump's national security adviser, lawyer, campaign chairman, deputy campaign manager and a foreign policy aide have admitted or been convicted of crimes, The Guardian said. Those guidelines aren't binding.

He made the statements on Tuesday after admitting to eight criminal charges, including tax evasion, bank fraud and campaign finance violations.

Cohen has had a front-row seat to Mr. Trump's business dealings for years.

But the jury of six men and six women could not reach a consensus on 10 other counts. He also remarked on his surprise at the level of attention the case has received and the criticism he received for his management of the trial. "This is a witch hunt and it is a disgrace". You know they're still looking for collusion. Trump declined to answer questions on Cohen.

Trump further said that he would hold further rallies across the country in a bid to consolidate the Republican Party's chances of holding seats in the run-up to the midterm elections. He began to tell associates he felt abandoned by Trump and that he would put his family first.

As part of his plea agreement, Cohen agreed not to challenge any sentence from 46 to 63 months.
