US President signs US$717 billion defense bill for FY2019

President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence landed in their respective planes - Air Force One and Air Force Two - at Fort Drum Monday afternoon for a ceremonial bill signing.

If President Donald Trump had wanted to make a gracious mention of John McCain, the ailing Republican senator from Arizona, he could have done it Monday, when the president signed the $716 billion military spending bill named in McCain's honor. At campaign rallies, Trump regularly castigates McCain - without outright naming him - for casting a dramatic thumbs-down vote that doomed Trump's effort a year ago to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which was enacted by President Barack Obama.

The absence of any mention of McCain - whom the defense bill is named after - raised eyebrows.

This continues a smear campaign against the war hero who represents a pre-Trump Republican party, before the GOP platform was officially changed to a pro-Russia one in 2016. And of course, Trump has over the years criticized McCain for having been captured and tortured by North Vietnamese forces while fighting for America during the Vietnam War. I like people that weren't captured, OK?

Trump slams media as 'opposition party' while papers defend free press
Former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer pointed out mainstream media's hypocrisy in coordinating anti-Trump editorials. The Fayetteville Observer said it hopes Mr Trump will stop making such accusations, "but we're not holding our breath".

"I have to tell you about Elise", Trump said. The president has frequently insulted McCain, a Vietnam veteran and prisoner of war, even as the senator battles an aggressive form of brain cancer.

For his part, McCain has always been critical of Trump. Trump, who has long prided himself on never apologizing, believing it shows weakness, did not apologize, but the aide was later fired.

Trump planned to fly after his speech to Griffiss International Airport in Rome on his way to a private fundraiser in Utica for Rep. Claudia Tenney.

"I'm proud the NDAA is now law & humbled Congress chose to designate it in my name".

Pedro sealed a comfortable win with a cool, chipped finish for Chelsea's third after being played in by substitute Eden Hazard . In the first line, we defended not like we wanted to defend.

Trump later made a reference to McCain at a political fund-raiser in Utica, New York, knocking him - as Trump does repeatedly - for voting against a bill to repeal parts of President Barack Obama's signature healthcare reform law a year ago.

Earlier in the year the US Senate passed an amendment reinstating a trade ban on ZTE, though it failed to pass the House and as a result was dropped for the time.

"Trump snubs John McCain during bill signing meant to honor him", NBC News complained in a headline that was repeated nearly verbatim in Business Insider, the Washington Post, The Daily Beast, The New Republic, Bloomberg and many other major news outlets.
