Trump admits son met with Russian to get information on Hilary

Putin Trump

US President Donald Trump has admitted his son met a Russian lawyer in June 2016 "to get information on an opponent", but argues it was legal.

The Washington Post reported that Trump had expressed concerns in the past week about his son Donald Trump Jr's legal exposure from the 2016 Trump Tower meeting.

Michael Cohen, Trump's longtime attorney and former fixer, is said to be prepared to testify that the President knew about the Trump Tower meeting ahead of time sources with knowledge of the matter told CNN.

Trump's claim that he did not know about the Trump Tower meeting is also "problematic", according to The Post.

It is his most direct statement so far on the reason for Donald Trump Jr's meeting with Kremlin-linked lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya in June 2016. "They are very risky & sick!" he posted on Twitter.

Guardiola keen to learn from Sarri
The 59-year-old is eager to do well but he acknowledges the size of the task against the Premier League champions. New Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri swooped in at the last minute to bring Jorginho to Stamford Bridge from Napoli.

In saying that he isn't concerned, Trump has nevertheless torpedoed his past defense of the meeting in claiming it was indeed about getting dirt on his presidential campaign opponent, Hilary Clinton.

Asked on Sunday why he had denied the president's involvement, one of Trump's lawyers Jay Sekulow told ABC that "I had bad information at that point".

"I had bad information at the time and made a mistake in my statement", Sekulow said Sunday, noting that he had only been working for Trump a short time when he made the misstatement a year ago.

He reiterated that he had no prior knowledge of the 20-minute meeting when it happened, adding that "it went nowhere".

Legal experts have often pointed to a possible violation of federal election laws, which ban taking anything of value - which could include information on a political opponent - from a foreign government trying to influence a USA election.

RBI rate hike worries real estate sector
At the turn of the interest rate cycle, deposit rates went up by 25-50 bps in one go, public sector bank executives said. The following hike by the RBI comes after it had raised the repo rate for the first time in four years to 6.25%.

The owner of the blocked number has not been discovered, but Trump himself was in his office at Trump Tower just one floor above where the meeting took place and is known to have had a blocked phone number at the time.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is investigating whether Trump campaign members coordinated with a Russian effort to sway the 2016 election in the Republican's favour. He made the claim standing next to Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki last month, and then a day later during a Cabinet meeting at the White House.

"I made a mistake in my statement", he said.

U.S. President Donald Trump makes a comment about how hot the room is during his Make America Great Again rally in Olentangy Orange High School in Lewis Center, OH, U.S., August 4, 2018. Others have said the meeting could provide clues to a broader conspiracy by Trump officials with Russians.

Trump has stepped up his public attacks on the Mueller probe since the first trial to arise from it began last week in Alexandria, Virginia, involving former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort. Last week, Trump's national security team said Russian Federation was behind "pervasive" attempts to interfere in November 2018 congressional elections. As an analysis by the University of Kentucky Election Law Society clearly explains, under USA law, "any contribution by a foreign national to the campaign of an American candidate for any election, state or national, is illegal", and any campaign of a candidate who accepts foreign aid is committing a crime. "They can also cause War!"
