Judge stops 3-D guns hours before USA release

A 3-D printed gun's quality often depends on the sophistication of the printer and the quality of the plastic used.

Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson said at a news conference in Seattle that the states will ask a federal judge to issue a restraining order and an injunction to block the publication of the designs, which they say would allow criminals easy access to weapons.

Eight Democratic attorneys general had filed a lawsuit Monday seeking to block the settlement.

President Donald Trump said Tuesday he is "looking into" the idea, declaring it "doesn't seem to make much sense!".

The president expressed doubt, saying the move "doesn't seem to make much sense!".

McDonald's Mints MacCoin to Mark Big Mac's 50th Anniversary
McDonald's added the Big Mac to its national menu in 1968 after Delligatti tested the burger in his Pittsburgh restaurants. More than 14,000 McDonalds restaurants will be taking part in the scheme to bring customers back to the fast-food chain.

Senators added their voices later in the day, urging the president to reverse the settlement decision. The suit claims the federal government broke the law earlier this year when it settled a 2015 dispute with 3D-printed gunmaker Defense Distributed and the Bellevue, Wash., gun rights group the Second Amendment Foundation.

The Trump administration had previously given the go-ahead for the online publication of the plans, which show how to make a firearm from printable parts.

The settlement, which took gun-control advocates by surprise, allowed Defense Distributed to resume posting blueprints for the hard plastic guns at the end of July.

A U.S. gun rights advocate began gearing up for a legal fight Wednesday to be able to publish online blueprints for 3D-printed firearms, as the White House signaled support for a federal judge's decision to block the venture.

Josh Blackman, a lawyer for the company Defense Distributed, said during Tuesday's hearing that blueprints had already been uploaded to the firm's website Friday.

Washington leads multi-state lawsuit against Trump admin over 3D printed guns
But Defense Distributed challenged that effort on Sunday by filing a federal lawsuit in Texas. The 3D-printed guns files are slated to be uploaded on DEFCAD.com this Wednesday.

Guttenberg, whose daughter Jamie was one of 17 people slain in February's high school shooting in Parkland, Florida, says the plastic weapons are the most important issue facing the country right now.

The 3D printed technology provides a way to create untraceable guns without serial numbers and without the owner needing a background check, things gun control advocates say are risky. "These ghost guns are a new wave of American gun violence". The Obama administration said it violated federal law and Wilson sued.

The blueprints are expected to be available on the Internet at midnight. The firm's designs would allow owners of 3D-printers to create their own plastic firearms.

Cody Wilson, director of Defense Distributed, said it is his constitutional right to post the files online. Federal law passed in 1988, crafted with the NRA's support, makes it unlawful to manufacture, import, sell, ship, deliver, possess, transfer, or receive an undetectable firearm. The worry is, that they're unregistered and therefore undetectable.

The US district judge Robert Lasnik issued the order Tuesday afternoon, saying: "There is a possibility of irreparable harm because of the way these guns can be made".

Destructive California fires could be 'the new normal'
Alyce Macken said she had only minutes to flee with her husband Ted from the flames sweeping closer to her home in Redding. Despite the improved mood, a sixth person was killed in the fire, according to Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko.

Unlike traditional firearms that can fire thousands of rounds in a lifetime, the 3D-printed guns normally last only a few rounds before they fall apart, experts say.
