Hamilton leads Mercedes one-two at sodden Hungaroring

Formula 1: Do Ferrari really have an advantage over Mercedes?

Sebastian Vettel, who had led the way for the Scuderia during the weekend, was quicker than the highest-placed Mercedes vehicle in all three of the practice sessions in the dry, and headed into qualifying as favourite for pole position.

Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas and Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen, who were running in second and third place, respectively, when Vettel crashed, finished the race in second and third, as they came into the pits during the safety vehicle period while Hamilton, who was running in fourth when Vettel crashed, stayed out on the track to inherit the race lead before going on to win. Bottas, with no front end grip from his 51-lap old soft tyres, ploughed into the back of Vettel at the apex, damaging his fornt wing as the Ferrari miraculously escaped undamaged.

Bottas and Vettel touched cars during the overtaking move, with some debris flying off the Mercedes. Red Bull's Max Verstappen did not have the best qualifying and will start seventh 2.374s off the pole-sitter.

But Red Bull's Ricciardo was the biggest victim to fall foul to the changeable conditions on Saturday. It follows his victory in Germany and hands him a major advantage in the title fight.

Ahed Tamimi relased from Israeli jail, promising to continue the resistance
The separation wall cutting the West Bank off from Israel is filled with graffiti in support of the Palestinian cause. In Nabi Saleh, supporters welcomed Tamimi home Sunday with Palestinian flags planted on the roof of her home.

That put Vettel in the lead, and by lap 29 the German had enough of a lead over Bottas to make a pit stop and re-emerge in the lead. Bottas then came under attack from Daniel Ricciardo for fourth place with two laps remaining and was again involved in a collision, this time at Turn 1.

The scenario changed in a matter of seconds, and Vettel will start fourth behind Raikkonen.

Lap 40: As Vettel pits, Bottas sets the fastest lap of the race so far. Ferrari pitted Raikkonen on lap 15 and Mercedes responded a lap later, giving Vettel the clean air and the chance to push at Hamilton.

When asked if he felt his pole position lap, and the fact Vettel struggled by comparison, proved to him he is the better driver, he replied: "Obviously I know the answer to that question but it's for you and the public to judge that".

Pressure is on to win trophies, says Jürgen Klopp
Widespread reports claim ten players could be for sale, although Simon Mignolet is listed rather than Loris Karius. I talk about him like so many other goalkeepers. "He has got everything".

"The Ferraris have been quicker all weekend and we were just trying to be close to them, but then the heavens opened", he said after the session. Vettel takes over at the front. Defending his position at Turn Two, Vettel was caught by an over-exuberant Bottas.

Starting fifth is Renault Carlos Sainz, the only driver to not use two sets of wets in Q3, while the sixth place has been taken by Pierre Gasly of Torro Rosso.

And there was finally some good news for Fernando Alonso on the two-time world champion's 37th birthday.
