Federal prosecutors received 12 audio tapes seized from Cohen

Michael Cohen

In a one-page document filed Monday, Special Master Barbara Jones said that prosecutors had received the "audio items" on Friday after prosecutors and Cohen's attorneys withdrew the recordings' "privileged" designation.

Jones, a former federal judge, is reviewing the hundreds of thousands of documents seized in the raids to see what can be released to the government and what is protected by attorney-client privilege. It is unclear who appears on the tapes.

A person familiar with the matter confirmed to USA TODAY that in one of those conversations Trump discussed payments to a former Playboy model, Karen McDougal, who claimed to have had an affair with Trump. Since the search warrants were executed in April, lawyers for Cohen, Trump and the Trump Organization have been engaged in a laborious process of reviewing more than 4 million items seized in the raids.

Nevertheless, Avenatti seems particularly confident of the existence of additional tapes, telling Stephanopoulos that if he's wrong, "why don't we have Mr. Trump or his attorneys come forward today, right now, and claim there are no other tapes".

That conversation took place one month after AMI, the parent company of the National Enquirer, bought the rights to McDougal's story for $150,000, then shelved it.

CNN Airs Donald Trump Recording Secretly Made His Then-Lawyer Michael Cohen
Davis, a damage-control maestro going back to the Clinton administration, told me: " Michael Cohen has made a turn". The president has denied that he had an affair, and CBS News has not verified the authenticity of the recording.

The tabloid never published the story.

Avenatti is representing Daniels, who was paid $130,000 by Cohen in exchange for her silence about an alleged decade-old affair with Trump. Both have alleged having affairs with Trump.

At least some of the other 11 recordings include conversations Cohen had with members of the media.

"If they think for a second that the efforts to discredit me aren't known to me, they are sadly mistaken", Cohen has told friends, referencing Trump and his legal team, according to Vanity Fair. "The President says he never had a relationship with McDougal".

Other reports have differed from Giuliani's description.

Trump ratchets up criticism of Fed interest rate rises
Given Trump's recent Fed picks, this doesn't appear to be the case. "That isn't how trade negotiations work", Yerxa said. Benchmark 10-year USA notes last fell 14/32 in price to yield 2.8968 percent, from 2.847 percent late on Thursday.

"I know for a fact that this is not the only tape".

Stormy Daniels lawyer Michael Avenatti has been asserting there were a number of tapes for weeks.

Neither Davis nor Giuliani returned a request for comment.

On Saturday, Trump tweeted about the tape, saying it was "inconceivable that the government would break into a lawyer's office (early in the morning) - nearly unheard of".

"Inconceivable that the government would break into a lawyer's office (early in the morning) - nearly unheard of", Trump tweeted Saturday. News corrected a story Thursday that said federal investigators had placed a wiretap on the phone lines of President Trump's attorney, Michael Cohen, saying it subsequently learned that the feds were only monitoring the source of calls and weren't listening in. Most states, including NY, allow for recordings of conversations with only the consent of one party; other states require all parties to agree to a recording or have mixed laws on the matter.
