A 47-year-old man who shot and killed someone over a parking space dispute will not face criminal charges, Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri announced during a Friday afternoon press conference. Drejka frequently visited the store and was angry over her use of the parking spot without a legal permit, Gualtieri said.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, around 3:28 p.m. Thursday, Britany Jacobs, 24, was sitting in her auto in a handicapped parking space outside a Circle A Food Store while her boyfriend Markeis McGlockton, 28, and their son Markeis McGlockton Jr., 5, went into the store.

Michael Drejka told deputies he was in fear for his life, and that's why he pulled the trigger shooting Markeis McGlockton. When McGlockton walked out of the store, he approached Jacobs and Drejka. After a couple of seconds elapse, Drejka is seen pulling out a gun and shooting McGlockton once in the chest.

The "Stand Your Ground" law has come into effect in Clearwater, Florida, in a case of a disputed parking spot turned deadly.

"I'm not saying I agree with it, but I don't make that call", Gualtieri told reporters, adding that his agency will now forward the case to the State Attorney's Office for a final decision.

A local man named Rick Kelly told the Tampa Bay Times that he was at the same convenience store months prior and that Drejka threatened to shoot him after they started fighting about the handicapped parking space.

A representative from the state attorney's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Saturday.

People say McGlockton went to the Circle A store often and community members say they're outraged. Their five-year-old son saw him, and has reportedly been "not too good" since his father was killed.

Witnesses told deputies the two were arguing because Drejka was upset the woman parked there because she didn't use a wheelchair, sources said.

"He's getting out like he's a police officer or something, and he's approaching me", she said.

"How is this "Stand Your Ground" law?" she asked.

"The law in the state of Florida today is that people have a right to stand their ground and have a right to defend themselves", Gualtieri said.
