Batwoman TV Series Coming To The CW

Batwoman TV Series

Batwoman, a new live-action drama, is reportedly in the works for The CW, the United States channel behind other DC superhero shows including Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl.

Already, it's been announced that Batwoman (aka Kate Kane) will appear in the four-way crossover between The CW's DC series: Arrow, Supergirl, The Flash, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow. But don't call her a hero yet.

Together with her father - and inspired by Batman's image - Kate takes to the streets as Batwoman, utilising her military expertise to fight crime in her own way.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, a Republican, told reporters: "I've said a number of times and I'll say it again". However there are no objective reasons for these difficulties, the current tense atmosphere".

Of all the members of the Bat-family, Batwoman is probably the most similar to Batman. The series would debut in 2019. Should it get picked up, the show would make its debut sometime next year.

Vampire Diaries writer/producer Caroline Dries is locked in as a writer and producer on the project, along with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Geoff Johns. The character is set to be introduced during the annual Arrowverse crossover event this December, which was revealed back in May during the network's upfront presentation.

According to Variety, The CW is developing a series based around Batwoman. In a bid to bring more diversity to its roster, DC launched a modern version of Batwoman, Kate Kane, in 2006 as a lesbian of Jewish descent.

When Batwoman returned to the DC Comics comic book universe following the New 52 relaunch, she was introduced as a gay character, and the TV series is embracing that identity.

Deadline reports that Berlanti Productions is about to begin casting for the role. "This is the first time ever that Batwoman will make a live-action appearance on any screen", Pedowitz said, adding that, along with Batwoman, the City of Gotham also will be added to the ever-expanding Arrowverse. Could Batwoman be the potential bridge to Gotham, and perhaps even to the DC streaming service's upcoming Titans series led by former Robin Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites)?
