Park Sung-hyun Wins KPMG Women's PGA Championship

Lydia Ko Swings During Round Two of KPMG Women's PGA Championship

South Korea's Park Sung-hyun won the KPMG Women's PGA Championship following the first three-way play-off in the tournament's 63-year history. She grabbed two titles, including her first major at the U.S. Women's Open, en route to sweeping the money title and the Rookie of the Year award.

She said at he time, "I felt very confident with it, felt like I could make good strokes, and I felt like I was seeing the line well, too, which all those things are great things to see it well".

For all her talent, Park's golf game has an aspect of feast or starvation. "It's such a gratifying day". Ryu, who won the ANA Inspiration a year ago and the U.S. Women's Open in 2011, has had top three results at all five women's majors.

"I thought the tournament was gone", Jones said.

Park, world No. 6 who now has four LPGA wins, got off to a sluggish start to 2018 before winning the Volunteers of America LPGA Texas Classic on May 6.

All three LPGA major champions this year have been determined in playoffs.

Charley Hull turned in a 67 on Sunday at Kemper Lakes to finish in a tie for sixth, her third top 10 at the majors this season.

Heat warning extended before strong storms bring relief
One difference from Saturday , winds will be a bit more brisk at times, gusting to near 20 miles per hour out of the south. The heat index reflects not just the actual temperature, but the effect humidity has on conditions, even in the shade.

Australian Sarah Jane Smith made eagle on the par-5 7th hole but only managed two birdies to go with three bogeys for a round of 71 and a total of four under, and a tie for 11th place. Park's 69 included a string of nine straight pars at one point.

The Kiwi holds a share of 11th heading into the final day in IL.

Park was four behind Ryu at the start of the day at seven-under.

"Actually, this is my first time feeling this kind of emotion, being this emotional", Ryu said through an interpreter. She took a double-bogey 6 on the second hole but rallied back with birdies on holes 6 and 7. It was a long way from her back nine score of 30 on Friday when every putt seemed to find the hole.

Playing in eight groups ahead of the two South Koreans, Hataoka was making a run to the top.

Park just missed a birdie on that hole when her 20-footer hit the edge of the cup.

The three players returned to the 18th hole for the sudden-death playoff.

Cesc Fabregas "speechless" as Spain exit 2018 World Cup
The players have been extraordinary for their effort, their professionalism, their solidarity". "We need our personality". He had said before the tournament started that he would be retiring after the tournament in Russian Federation .

Park, along with So Yeon Ryu and last week's Northwest Arkansas Wal-Mart tournament victor Nasa Hataoka all finished at 10 under par after 72 holes.

With Ryu lying on the green, it seemed Park would be fortunate to get away with a bogey.

Park's ball landed on a big tuft of grass. It was not the finish she was looking for at the Kemper Lakes Golf Club in Kildeer, Illinois - just outside Chicago. The 19-year-old also rolled in birdie putts on holes 12, 15 and 16, saved par from a greenside bunker on No. 17 and again saved par from the back fringe on the last hole.

Park's second shot from more than 200 yards landed pin high but took a huge bounce over the green, from where she hit a poor chip that nearly trickled into a water hazard on the other side.

Park almost took a one-shot lead at the 17th, but her long birdie attempt lipped out. Henderson made the par putt to stay at six under for the tournament.

The matched birdies on the first playoff hole sent Park and Ryu to No. 16 to continue their duel. She also missed a bogey putt.

Hataoka could not then match her two rivals and watched on as Park clinched the title.
