Bali volcano ash shuts airport, stranding passengers

The global airport at Indonesia's Bali island was reopened on Friday, after authorities closed it due to a volcanic eruption the previous day, AFP reported.

Ngurah Rai worldwide airport says all flights are suspended until at least 7pm local time (9pm AEST).

The cancelled flights included those between Kuala Lumpur and Bali, between Bangkok and Bali, between Singapore and Bali, between Perth and Bali, between Jakarta and Bali, between Bandung and Bali, between Yogyakarta and Bali, and between Solo and Bali, it said.

Activity at the volcano was high in 2017 and forced the evacuation of tens of thousands of people.
