Spurs Rumors: Cavaliers called about Kawhi Leonard trade

Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports that he wants to play in his hometown of Los Angeles and preferably represent the Lakers.

The news of Kawhi Leonard reportedly wanting to leave the San Antonio Spurs rocked the National Basketball Association world on Friday. Leonard, when healthy, is still one of the best in the league and San Antonio can still offer him a super max contract extension worth $219 million.

Leonard is under contract with San Antonio for two more seasons, but he's effectively entering the previous year of his deal thanks to an opt-out clause for 2019-20.

House won't take on immigration without Trump's support, after Trump expresses doubts
A summary of the GOP bill released to reporters claims it addresses family separation, which some reporters repeated credulously. Conservatives are leery of legislation protecting from deportation immigrants who arrived illegally, calling it amnesty.

A person familiar with the situation says Leonard has told the Spurs that he would like to be traded this summer, the clearest sign yet that the relationship between the team and the All-Star is in disrepair. "Any deal with the Spurs for Leonard would mean trading draft picks and younger players". Pursuing Leonard does come with some with some risk, but it can also come with some great rewards.

Still, the biggest factor in a trade scenario may a Spurs' desire to keep Leonard out of the Western Conference and avoid building yet another superteam they would have to take down. After all, there was tension between Leonard and management throughout much of the 2017-18 season over how his quad injury was being handled. But what makes them special is that they've ignored the noise for 21 years!

The Lakers, Celtics, Sixers, and Clippers were rumored to be the former Finals MVP's likeliest suitors, after he made it known he no longer wanted to be a Spur, per The Ringer's Kevin O'Connor. "The Thunder lost in the first round of the playoffs".

Trump wants his 'people' to be like Kim's 'people'
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Russian Federation and North Korea. Trump, who would not be meeting Kim until Tuesday, told aides that he wanted to move the date up to Monday .

Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel wrote that he believes that Heat president Pat Riley would do "anything and everything" in order to bring a player like Leonard to Miami. Leonard can become a free agent in 2019, meaning the Spurs are on the clock to get something for him before he has the chance to walk away.

If the Cavs would be able to pull this off and get Kawhi Leonard, it would nearly certainly lock in the fact of LeBron staying in Cleveland.
