Facebook bug made posts by 14 million users readable by anyone

Well shucks

Facebook said Thursday that it would notify 14 million users that posts they meant to share privately may have been published publicly, the company's latest setback as it tries to rebuild user trust after the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

The company said that it's informing 14 million of its users who may have accidentally shared their posts publicly because of this bug. The bug apparently affected 14 million people, although it seems Facebook doesn't know how many of those users may have actually posted something to the public.

"It will take some time to work through all the changes we need to make across the company", Zuckerberg said on the first day of hearings.

Jared Leto Is Getting His Own Joker Movie
This Joker standalone is now searching for a writer, and it's not clear when it would start filming. Jared Leto's version of the Joker in Suicide Squad was polarizing to say the least .

Affected Facebook users will get a notification on the app or website starting Thursday.

Facebook said it will reach out to the users who are thought to have been affected by the bug.

Facebook was back in the spotlight in the past few days after the New York Times reported that Facebook had data-sharing contracts with device makers like Apple and Samsung.

The 7 biggest Apple Watch features coming in watchOS 5
All other Apple Watch variants and series including Series 1, 2, and 3 continue to be supported by the latest release of the OS. There's a yoga tool that uses your heart rate, while the hiking activity will track your pace, heart rate and elevation gain.

"This bug occurred as we were building a new way to share featured items on your profile, like a photo". Unfortunately, the feature caused all new posts, not just the featured items, to be made "public". Facebook will also flag for the user which posts they shared between May 18 and May 27, and will show them what the privacy setting was on that post.

A message will prompt them to "Please Review Your Posts", while a link will direct the user to view a list of what they shared during the 10 days that the bug was active. If users did not notice the new default suggestion, they unwittingly sent their post to a broader audience than they had intended. "We expect that this kind of on-platform notification is something which people might see more of over the coming months as we try and do more (and better) to detect and fix issues before they affect people's experience".

When people post to Facebook, the service suggests and audience for their posts, based on past privacy settings.

Fornite is coming to Nintendo Switch
Since its release a year ago , Fortnite has become hugely popular and has released on PS4, Xbox One , PC, iOS and, soon, Android. There are have been quite a few "leaks" of Nintendo's E3 games and Fortnite always appears on them, because, well, it's obvious.

The mishap comes on the tail of several privacy scandals involving the social network in recent months.
