Serena Williams celebrates winning a point

Serena Williams says she does not have any negative feelings towards Maria Sharapova and is surprised the Russian's recent autobiography was so much about her. "This time a year ago I was pregnant and I was having a tough time and then I had a tough birth so every match at this stage of my return is a bonus", Williams, who suffered multiple complications following the birth of her daughter Alexis Olympia, said courtside.

Williams is 12-2 in the third round during her career at the tournament. But mostly I think she hated me for hearing her cry.

Two-time champion Maria Sharapova made a statement in a big way at the French Open on Saturday, upsetting No.6 seed Karolina Pliskova in the third round, 6-2, 6-1.

Heading into Wimbledon in 2013, they took swipes at each other's personal lives. Sharapova, 31, has won five.

Elise Mertens, who defeated Heather Watson in the second round, saw off Australia's Daria Gavrilova 6-3 6-1 to reach the fourth-round stage for the first time. Both have been ranked No. 1.

Sharapova's Unstoppable: My Life So Far, released during her doping ban past year, claimed Williams hated her following the Russian's surprise win at the Wimbledon final in 2004.

Standing in her way in the fourth round could be her old adversary Serena Williams.

She next plays seventh-seeded Caroline Garcia of France.

"Everything that we have been able to achieve off the court, I have never really seen it as a competition", she said.

Sharapova, who's won the tournament twice, indicated that she takes the task of playing the three-time champion very seriously.

Williams eased to her 18th successive win over Sharapova in the Australian Open quarter-finals, but the Russian was then hit with a 15-month doping ban for using the banned substance meldonium.

"I think there are a lot of things in her game that she's done much better than I have".

Williams was asked about Sharapova's book, which was published previous year.

Williams won the first meeting between the pair, in Miami in 2004, but Sharapova triumphed in the next two - including that famous 2004 final at the All England Club.

Recently Priyanka and Nick were seen attending the Beauty and the Beast concert in Hollywood along with a LA Dodgers game. Whether or not they'll make it official remains to be seen, but we have to say they do make a really cute couple.

The way in which Sharapova sent down winners down the line and displayed powerful shots to win her points evoked memories of her early days as a player and sent out a clear message that she was here for the long haul and could possibly end up winning the title.

"The book was 100% hearsay - at least all the stuff I read and the quotes that I read, which was a little bit disappointing".

"Sometimes you have a good day and sometimes you have a bad day, but I tried as hard as I could", said Kvitova. I think this is just one of her best surfaces, and she always does really, really well here.

Sharapova and Williams have a tense history, as words were aimed at each other in press conferences in the past.

Wimbledon champion Garbine Muguruza is now many pundits' favourites for the title after dismantling Sam Stosur. Men's winners included 10-time champion Rafael Nadal, No. 3 Marin Cilic, No. 5 Juan Martin del Potro, No. 6 Kevin Anderson and No. 9 John Isner.

Even if Williams vs. Sharapova has not been competitive, it's still compelling. The following year she beat her sister Venus in the Australian Open final, carrying her recently conceived baby.

The three-time victor was facing an early exit in her first Slam since the 2017 Australian Open when she trailed Ashleigh Barty by a set and a break, but dragged herself back into form in trademark fashion to progress.
