30-year-old evicted by parents finally leaves home

Man, 30, ordered evicted from parents’ home by New York judge feels ‘great’ to be leaving

Michael Rotondo officially moved out of his parents' house in Camillus around 9:30 a.m. Friday, a whole 2½ hours ahead of his court-ordered eviction deadline of noon, Syracuse.com reported.

The 30-year-old man who was evicted from his parents' home has finally left, hours before a court-ordered deadline.

Rotondo had never contributed to any household expenses or assisted in any household chores after moving back in eight years ago, according to papers filed with the NY court. Michael has been living with them for eight years since losing a job, and they had made several efforts to get him out before taking the case to a judge - including offering him over $1,000 to offset moving costs.

CNY Central tracked down a Michael Rotondo from the Albany area who now lives in California, but is the same age as the one in Camillus (who goes by "Mike") and shows up in searches because they're both from Upstate New York.

Remains of decapitated Pompeii victim found
The team had found illegal tunnels dug by illicit treasure seekers and began excavating the area to protect the artifacts there. As of this writing, the man's head remains buried under the stone, and it is unclear when, or if, it will be removed.

His parents have been unavailable since they successfully sued for eviction earlier this month.

Rotondo refused the judge's request to work things out directly with his parents, who sat quietly nearby. The father offered to look for specific items and bring them out if he found them.

Adding to the confusion is the "other" Rotondo is also looking for a home, though it's in California and he's doing it with the support of his parents. "While the police were there, the Legos were located and there was no further incident".

On Friday, Rotondo stood outside the place he once called home but had some trouble before then.

He told WSTM that he previously had a job and and his own apartment in Syracuse, but when he lost his job he had to move in with his parents. For now, Rotondo says he's "off to an Airbnb".

Greenwood ruled in favour of Rotondo's parents, Mark and Christina, setting into motion the 30-year-old's eviction.

"This isn't a game show", Rotondo said, explaining to the newspaper why he called police.
