Weinstein surrenders, to face sexual crime charges

Film producer Harvey Weinstein leaves the 1st Precinct in Manhattan in New York

Detectives sent her back to meet Mr Weinstein in a hotel, wearing a wire.

Weinstein surrendered to authorities on Friday to face charges involving at least one of the women who have accused him of sexual assault, Lucia Evans, two law enforcement officials told the AP.

Evans was among the first women to speak out about the producer.

A jury would not believe the women, Brafman said, "assuming we get 12 fair people who are not consumed by the movement that seems to have overtaken this case".

Shortly before a grim-faced Weinstein appeared before the judge to face charges against two women, in a momentous day for the more than 70 who have accused him.

Iran nuclear deal: Khamenei lists demands for European powers
Iran is one of the world's largest oil producers, and the export of oil and gas is worth billions of dollars each year. He also warned that Iran would continue its enrichment of uranium if the terms are not met.

The New York police said in its statement: "The NYPD thanks these fearless survivors for their courage to come forward and seek justice".

It was a scene not unlike the red carpet walks he used to do, further highlighting how far he has fallen since dozens of women came forward in the New York Times and the New Yorker to publicly accuse him of sexual misconduct. Brafman also has said that Weinstein was a "principal target" of an investigation being conducted by the USA attorney's office in Manhattan.

Weinstein arrived to the NYPD's 1st Precinct Friday morning flanked by marshals and was then taken to court in handcuffs where he was scheduled to be arraigned. Brafman says Weinstein vehemently denies the charges and will fight to get them dismissed.

It marked the first criminal case against Weinstein, coming seven months after the allegations destroyed his career and set off a national reckoning over sexual misconduct known as the #MeToo movement.

The actress and Kelly said they believe that vocal women like McGowan "shamed Cy Vance", the Manhattan district attorney, into bringing the charges against Weinstein after Vance was accused of dragging his feet and not pursuing previous allegations.

ET can confirm that the 66-year-old former movie mogul turned himself in to police in New York City just before 7:30 a.m. ET.

Evans told The New Yorker in a story published in October that Weinstein forced her to perform oral sex during a daytime meeting at his New York office in 2004, the summer before her senior year at Middlebury College.

Weinstein is also reportedly the subject of a federal investigation looking into whether he arranged the travel of women across state lines for the purposes of having sex with them.

New York City police also have been investigating allegations by "Boardwalk Empire" actress Paz de la Huerta, who told police last fall that Weinstein raped her twice in 2010 when she was drinking and not in a condition to give consent. The Women's March released a statement on Friday. Federal prosecutors in NY have started a sex crimes investigation involving him, according to the Wall Street Journal. Reps for Weinstein have consistently denied that he has ever engaged in non-consensual sex.
