76ers' Ben Simmons on one-point night: 'I was thinking too much'

Game 1 Celtics Win Reveals Perfect Blueprint For Beating Sixers

The Celts' greatest accomplishment has been neutralizing Sixers' star Ben Simmons, who scored one point Thursday night and looks thoroughly lost.

He had 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the Sixers' game one loss to Boston but was a non-factor on Thursday.

There's been a lot of hand-wringing about his brutal performance in the last 24 hours, with some critics wondering whether the basketball media has perhaps been too hasty in anointing him a superstar.

If he bring his play from the first two games to Philadelphia, the series may be shorter than expected.

What's disconcerting is that the Celtics are missing two of their best players in Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, and a third, Jaylen Brown, missed Game One and still was limited in Game Two.

Among those facing down the unknown was Stephen Clapper, who told KHON that his mother had to flee without her portable oxygen. According to the Civil Defense Agency, extreme levels of risky sulphur dioxide gas have been detected in the area.

J.J. Redick led all scorers with 23 points.

"What they are doing is taking what the league did [against Simmons] all year and just doing it well", Sixers coach Brett Brown said.

Morris has not been as consistent, Smart may not shoot that well again and Brown still needs to get healthy, meaning the Celtics will probably only go as far as Rozier, Tatum and Horford take them in this series.

"I'll get some treatment tomorrow, ice it down, and get ready for Game 3".

76ers: Outrebounded the Celtics 49-41.

Wednesday's news release announcing the decision lists only Cambridge Analytica and SCL Elections, not the parent company. Cambridge Analytica said on May 2 that it was filing for insolvency in the United Kingdom and the United States.

By night's end, their previous No. 1 overall pick was under some heat too. Brown immediately scooped up a loose ball and threw down a jam to get the crowd on their feet.

Following an anemic offensive effort in Game 1, the Sixers looked rejuvenated early in Game 2, using a 14-2 run to begin the second quarter on their way to building a 48-26 lead.

In the other eastern conference semi-final, LeBron James' Cleveland took a 2-0 stranglehold in their series against the Toronto Raptors with a comprehensive 128-110 win. Game 2 was an entirely different story as the 76ers controlled the game for the first quarter and a half, putting the Celtics on the ropes, and seemed poised to head home with a split and having stolen home court advantage. It was his first time off the bench since Game 5 of last season's Eastern Conference Finals. Redick (5-of-9 3-pointers) and Robert Covington (4-of-7 3-pointers) got hot from deep. Rozier racked up 20 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds.

The lead grew to 76-68 on a baseline dunk by Tatum that capped a 50-20 Celtics run. Joel Embiid scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds securing a first half double-double. But Boston weathered the storm, stuck with the game plan and was able to grittily grind itself back into the game.

"This morning you could just sense it", Love said. Even so, Philadelphia has to trust their big-man and live with the lay-ups that Boston makes. "You could just sense that he was going to have a special night".

Philly held a lead of 22 points in the 2nd quarter but a 20-5 run by Boston to close the 1st half made it a 56-51 game at the half. He had 22 points while shooting 8-for-15, including 4-of-7 on 3-pointers.
