An investigation was underway Sunday into a blaze in Trump Tower that left one man dead and sent six firefighters to the hospital.

Footage posted on social media showed flames and a vast amount of smoke billowing from one of the windows of the skyscraper. The cause of the fire was not immediately apparent. He also thanked the fire department.

Eric Trump, the son of US President Donald Trump and president of the Trump Organization, tweeted saying the fire broke out in a "residential apartment".

Firefighters reported smoke throughout tower and inspected Trump's residence but did not say if it was damaged. When asked to comment on the President's tweet, Nigro said the building "sure stood up quite well". Fireman (and women) did a great job.
