Apple Stokes Artificial Intelligence Talent Battle With Google Hire

Google's chief of search and artificial intelligence hired by Apple

Many industry experts hold the view that Apple has been falling behind when it comes to artificial intelligence.

In case you didn't know, John Giannandrea is Google's former head of search and artificial intelligence.

Resolution condemning Indian brutalities in held Kashmir tabled in PA
To thwart protests, authorities had put parts of Srinagar , including the Old City and Maisuma, under strict restrictions. The separatists , under the banner of joint resistance leadership (JRL), extended the strike in Kashmir by another day.

Neither Cook nor Giannandrea have made any public statements about the future direction of Apple's machine-learning and AI strategy. He will also report directly to the company's CEO, Tim Cook. The company is already hard at work on self-driving cars, and incorporates AI into its voice assistant, Siri, just to name a couple of the more prominent possible use cases for Giannandrea's help. (Try googling "How old is Steph Curry?") During Mr. Giannandrea's tenure, A.I. research became increasingly important inside Google, with its primary A.I lab, Google Brain, moving into a space beside the chief executive, Sundar Pichai. On the other hand, Ben Gomes, who joined Google Inc in the year 2000 and has been running the search engineering, will now take over the search organization. The company is looking to hire over 150 people for its Siri team to catch up with the juggernauts.

Giannandrea joined Google in 2010 when the search giant bought his company Metaweb, which was working on what's called a "knowledge graph" - a tool that gives direct answers to search queries.

Broncos' 2018 offseason workout schedule is set
Team practice may be conducted on a "separates" basis, but no live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills are permitted. The final phase of the offseason program begins on May 22, when the Vikings will hold the first of 10 organized team activities.

In a change that led to the departure of Windows chief Terry Myerson, last week Microsoft announced plans to focus more on its cloud and AI services. Any advances that bring Siri closer to Google Assistant, Alexa, and Cortana will seem like leaps rather than steps. Apple has products such as iPhones and HomePod smart speakers, but without a competitive voice assistant, they can only get so far in an AI-driven future.

Facebook and Google lead the AI technology, followed by Amazon and Microsoft.

Momentum admits anti-Semitism is a bigger problem in Labour than it realised
Garrard, a retired property developer, had given Labour around £1.5m ($2.1 million) under three different leaders since 2003. Anti-Semitism accusations against Labour are being used to attack Jeremy Corbyn, one of his frontbench MPs has said .

When discussing Siri's flaws it's sometimes hard to know how much to blame outdated technology, and how much to blame Apple's unique way of approaching things for Siri's lack of functionality. Apple's vision has always been to make Siri the ultimate personal assistant, and Giannandrea is the key to doing that, applying his AI smarts and expertise to bring machine learning to the actual machine you're using and keep it there.
