Saudi Arabia intercepts missile over capital city

Houthi leader Saudi Arabia will eventually fail in Yemen just like in Syria Iraq

Saudi Arabia said it intercepted seven ballistic missiles fired at Riyadh and other cities by Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, the biggest such barrage since the kingdom went to war against them in March 2015.

Saudi Arabian state television said that the Houthis fired two missiles toward the country late Sunday and the Saudi air defence forces succeeded in intercepting one over Riyadh, and another over Jazan in the Saudi Arabian border with Yemen.

One person is dead and two others are injured, following a series of missiles launched into Saudi Arabia by rebel forces in Yemen.

The footage shows an intense escalation, just days after Yemeni rebels took down a Saudi coalition aircraft with an R-27 air-to-air rocket reportedly modified into a surface-to-air missile.

"If they want peace, as we have said to them before, stop your air strikes and we will stop our missiles", he said.

More wet weather on the way… This time its rain
Highs today will be much warmer than yesterday, but still a bit on the cool side only reaching the upper 40s. Temperatures this morning will bottom out in the low-mid 50s and climb into the upper 60s by the afternoon.

Other Western countries and the United Nations also suspect Iran is sharing its missile technology with the Yemeni rebels, or supplying carriers in separate parts that are then assembled on-site. The attack was not the first time that Houthis fired missiles towards Riyadh.

Witnesses reported loud explosions and bright flashes in the sky in Riyadh, apparently caused by missiles being shot down.

A top Houthi leader hailed the attack, which took place on the eve of the third anniversary of the entry into the Yemen war by Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies.

The revolutionaries fired "Burkan 2-H" ballistic missile on Riyadh's King Khaled International Airport shorlty before midnight on Sunday.

Catalonia leader Puigdemont arrested in Germany
Footage posted on social media shows crowds meeting with police wearing helmets, but the protests appeared to be peaceful. They called the Supreme Court judge a "fascist" and wrote the message that he is "not welcome in Das or anywhere".

The Houthis control the north of Yemen, including the capital Sanaa.

According to the official Saudi news agency, the Egyptian was killed by shrapnel from a missile that hit his home in Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia is involved as at this moment the civil war is largely a de facto proxy war between a Saudi led coalition and Iran which is providing arms and supplies to the Houthi rebels. The country now suffers the world's worst humanitarian crisis, with more than 22.2 million people in need of assistance.

Delivering a veiled swipe at Iran, France called the transfer of missile capabilities to non-state actors "irresponsible".

Saudi authorities blame Iran for these assaults and accuse it of threatening Saudi Arabia's national security and supporting Shia groups in the region. "Happiness will only come back to Yemen, if we invest in children, stop the brutal war and invest in education", he said.He also said that UNICEF has been able to verify that 2,500 schools today that are no longer serving for educational purposes.
