Marvel Universe Fan-Favorites Join Brie Larson As 'Captain Marvel' Begins Production

'Captain Marvel' Bringing Back Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson and a Couple 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Characters

You can see a photo from the set below. Marvel also announced that Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson), Lee Pace (Ronan the Accuser), and Djimon Hounsou (Korath the Pursuer) have officially joined the pic.

The film stars Academy Award® victor Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, with Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.

The new Marvel film, Captain Marvel, will open March 8, 2019, but it commenced filming Monday in Los Angeles. Marvel Studios co-president Kevin Feige previously said he's always wanted to bring Coulson back to film, it was just a matter of how to about about making that happen. Additionally, and this is a fun little addition, Clark Gregg is coming back as Agent Coulson presumably alongside the already confirmed non-eyepatch wearing Samuel L. Jackson.

Catalonia leader Puigdemont arrested in Germany
Footage posted on social media shows crowds meeting with police wearing helmets, but the protests appeared to be peaceful. They called the Supreme Court judge a "fascist" and wrote the message that he is "not welcome in Das or anywhere".

Filming is now taking place in the Los Angeles area and will serve as the production home base.

If you need a refresher, Coulson appeared in almost every MCU film up until the first Avengers movie, where he was killed by Loki, and the Avengers used his death as motivation to really work together as a team and stop the evil trickster god.

And Djimon Hounsou and Lee Pace both play villains in 2014's "Guardians of the Galaxy", another MCU film.

How will they resurrect these three characters? Set in the 1990s, the film revolves around the battle that ensues when Earth is caught in between warring groups of aliens.

Comic book fans probably aren't all that surprised by those additions since the origin story of Captain Marvel is deeply rooted in the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe. They've also given us the first official look at Brie Larson as Carol Danvers.

Are you looking forward to the return of Korath, Ronan and other MCU characters in Captain Marvel?
