Family of four on dream Mexico holiday killed by toxic gases after going to sleep in luxury condo and never waking up

They were staying in a rental house they found through a vacation rental company.

The bodies of a family of four from Iowa are expected to be returned to the United States on Wednesday as their loved ones expressed disbelief that they died in their Mexico vacation condo when they were overcome by toxic gas as they slept.

Over the weekend, officials said the family died from asphyxiation after inhaling toxic gases.

Kevin Sharp, 41, his son Sterling Wayne Sharp, 12, daughter Adrianna Marie Sharp, 7, and his wife Amy Marie Sharp, 38, all of Creston, Iowa, pose for a photo on victory lane following a September 2017 stock-car race at Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa.

Amy Sharp's cousin Jana Weland told ABC News the family flew out of St. Louis and called Amy Sharp's mom that same day to let her know they had arrived.
