Loyola-Chicago vs. Kansas State - NCAA Elite 8

March Madness: Cinderella story continues for Loyola-Chicago

With Loyola clinging to a one-point lead and only 6.3 seconds remaining, Townes nailed the decisive 3-pointer to help clinch a 69-68 win over Nevada in the NCAA South Regional semifinal.

Loyola, third-ranked nationally and playing in the NCAA for the first time, got the impetus it needed when Cincinnati made a decision to sit on a 15-point lead with 11 minutes, 45 seconds remaining.

Charles Matthews scored 18 points, Zavier Simpson had 11 points and Duncan Robinson had 10 for the third-seeded Wolverines (31-7), who made 14 3-pointers to extend their winning streak to 12 games.

Loyola, the No. 11 seed, will face Kansas State, the No. 9 seed, in Saturday's regional final.

Custer leads a balanced, back-court-strong Rambler team with 13.3 points per game.

The shooting also raised concerns among the Midwestern city's Somali American community, with worries about a possible backlash. Noor and his partner Matthew Harrity reportedly gave Damond CPR before backup arrived, but she was pronounced dead on the scene.

Nevada scored 8 consecutive points with 5:19 left in the 2nd Half, making the game 57-55 in favor of Loyola Chicago.

Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman scored 24 points, Mo Wagner added 21 points and Charles Matthews had 18 points for MI, which hit 10 threes and led by 29 points in the first half. Loyola assistant coach Bryan Mullins suggested staying aggressive by starting the second half with a smaller lineup, inserting 6-foot-5 Aundre Jackson for 6-9 center Cameron Krutwig, who had two fouls.

In the opening moments of the second half, Loyola emerged from its locker room and avoided a post-rally letdown with even more defense.

Still, despite the ideal start, the Ramblers only briefly took a double-digit lead before Nevada sliced it back down below 10. Nevada knotted the score at 59 on Cody Martin's drive through the middle of the Ramblers' defense with 4:06 remaining. Now, out of nowhere, they are holding good three-point shooting teams to 61.3 points per game. After scoring 12 consecutive points, Loyola Chicago led 28-24. In the final minutes of the game, Harkness could be heard saying, "We need a stop". "Obviously during this stretch right now, whenever we are just sitting in our apartment hanging out together, we will look at each other and be like 'Wow, we are really doing this together right now.' We couldn't be happier to be doing this with each other".

MI 99, TEXAS A&M 72LOS ANGELES - This one was easy.

Missouri Valley Conference player of the year, helping the Ramblers to their first Elite Eight since winning the 1963 NCAA title. yes, the decision was a good one. Porter Moser's squad had Donte Ingram's buzzer-beater to beat Miami, Custer's dribble drive and a shot that lipped the rim to beat Tennessee, and then Townes' heroics - all of these inside of a minute left in the game.

The Aggies (22-13) never made a run, going long stretches without a basket in the first half while MI was scoring on almost every trip down the floor.

Custer's acrobatic reverse layup made the Ramblers 10 of 10 in the half and gave them a 48-38 advantage with 13:03 to play. He has averaged 11.2 points this season and seems like the Ramblers' most unsafe player.
