A vehicle bomb has exploded at the entrance of a sports stadium in Lashkar Gah, the capital of Afghanistan's southwestern province of Helmand, killing at least 13 people and injuring dozens as they were leaving a wrestling match.

Aminullah Abed, the chief of the province's public health department, in Helmand province said the 12 killed and 40 wounded were received at a hospital in Lashkar Gha today.

At least 14 people were killed and 50 others wounded when people were celebrating Afghan New Year, Authorities said.

Omar Zwak, spokesperson for the governor of Helmand province, said the blast went off near a wrestling match in the city of Lashkar at Ghazi Muhammad Ayoub Khan stadium.
